Buon Ma Thuot City teachers were shorted more than 30 billion VND in allowances

On May 12, Mr. Pham Tien Hung, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Buon Ma Thuot City (Dak Lak) said that he had assigned the Departmentof Education and Training and the Department of Finance to review and report to the City People's Committee to supplement funding and pay preferential allowances for teachers in the area.

Buon Ma Thuot City currently has 36 schools in ethnic minority and mountainous areas.

Previously, the Dak Lak Provincial Inspectorate concluded that from June 4, 2021 to 2025, Buon Ma Thuot City will only have 7/21 communes and wards in Region I belonging to ethnic minority and mountainous areas according to Decision No. 861/QD-TTg dated June 4, 2021 of the Prime Minister.

Specifically, including the communes: Cu Ebur, Ea Kao, Ea Tu, Hoa Phu, Hoa Thang, Hoa Xuan and Ea Tam ward. The total number of schools located in the 7 communes and wards mentioned above is 36: 8 kindergartens, 19 primary schools, 9 secondary schools.

However, the People's Committee of Buon Ma Thuot city has assigned a budget for schools to pay preferential allowances to teachers who are directly teaching in schools in communes and wards in ethnic minority and mountainous areas lower than prescribed.

Specifically, the People's Committee of Buon Ma Thuot City only pays a preferential allowance of 35% to teachers teaching at kindergartens and primary schools (lower than the allowance enjoyed by 15%) and only pays a preferential allowance of 30% to teachers teaching at schools (lower than the allowance enjoyed by 5%).

As a result, from June 4, 2021 to the end of 2024, the People's Committee of Buon Ma Thuot City underpaid teachers who were directly teaching in public educational institutions in 7 communes in ethnic minority and mountainous areas with a total amount of 30,441 billion VND.

After that, Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee directed Buon Ma Thuot City People's Committee to review and propose additional funding for schools to compensate for preferential allowances for teachers.

Mr. Pham Tien Hung, Vice Chairman of Buon Ma Thuot City People's Committee, emphasized that the locality is actively implementing to soon pay compensation allowances to teachers before the time when the district-level government organization is no longer organized.

After that time, wards and communes will continue to pay compensation allowances to teachers. The spirit of the People's Committee of Buon Ma Thuot City is to pay in full, not to let teachers suffer.

Previously, the Dak Lak Provincial Inspectorate concluded that from June 4, 2021 to September 2024, 13 units paid teachers' preferential allowances incorrectly (exceeding) a total amount of more than 125 billion VND, including:

Buon Ho town over 5.6 billion VND; Ea Kar district over 10 billion VND; Cu Kuin district over 7.2 billion VND; Cu M'gar district over 9.7 billion VND; Ea H'leo district over 7.9 billion VND; Ea Sup district over 1.8 billion VND; Krong Ana district over 4.6 billion VND; Krong Bong district over 14 billion VND; Krong Buk district 7 billion VND; Krong Nang district 16 billion VND; Krong Pac district over 21.8 billion VND; M'drak district 6 billion VND; Department of Education and Training 12.3 billion VND.
