Join hands to spread
Today, the Perfume River is bustling with many colors of culture, art and sports. Hundreds of bicycles marched calling for environmental protection. Cyclo groups promoting Ao Dai moved through many streets, attracting the interactive participation of locals and tourists. Taking place from early morning to late at night on May 1, the series of activities "Gratitude to the Perfume River" (TADH) aims to express gratitude to the river for giving the land of the ancient capital a harvest of flowers and fruits and cultural sediments.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Chau Pha, President of the Women's Union of Thuan Loc Ward (Hue City) brought her young child and other women to join the march. The group of women arrived early, helping the children prepare their traditional long dresses and turbans to join the crowd on Nguyen Dinh Chieu walking street. Ms. Pha said that letting the children participate helps them to understand the beauty of the traditional long dresses, the beauty of the river and the clean environment in their hometown. "In addition to participating in today's activities, in our area, the Women's Union of the ward regularly organizes propaganda to preserve a clean environment, green traffic, and participate in Green Sunday," Ms. Pha said.
On this occasion, 150 young artists had the opportunity to compete and demonstrate their knowledge through the festival “I love the Perfume River”. One can see a colorful, funny, and clear river, expressed through the simple drawings of students. Boat races, cultural festivals, and the scenery of the Perfume River appear innocently and brightly in the paintings.
Tran Ngoc Gia Nhu from Phu Thuong Primary School is passionate about drawing and coloring. She completed the painting in just 1 hour.
Gia Nhu said: “I like festivals on the Huong River because they are fun and bustling. Through experiential learning hours at school, we have learned more about the history and value of the river. We remind each other not to throw trash into the river, to preserve the beauty of the Huong River.”
Ms. Tran Thi Ngoc Thuy, Gia Nhu's mother, said that when she heard about the drawing contest, she excitedly registered her child to participate so that he could broaden his horizons and express his views. In addition, this was also an opportunity to participate and experience the Hue Traditional Craft Festival.
Practical and no less exciting, students of Tran Quoc Toan Primary School rowed SUP boats to pick up trash on the Huong River from Dong Ba to Phu Xuan Bridge. “The club provided boats and coordinated with the school so that the students could participate in protecting the river. With parents and children joining hands, this activity would be more meaningful. In addition to this experiential activity, the students also painted and collected trash during the Traditional Craft Festival,” said Mr. Duong Quang Nam, Principal of Tran Quoc Toan Primary School. information.

According to Vice Chairman of Hue City People's Committee Truong Dinh Hanh, TADH is a new program with the participation of many organizations and units. It takes place from morning to night with a series of activities such as cycling, painting, walking... In particular, the flower boat activity on the river has the participation of 36 wards and communes. The flower lanterns are released without candles and are made from materials that do not affect the environment.
The Perfume River plays an important role in the lives of people and the landscape of the ancient capital of Hue. How to preserve and promote the cultural, historical and economic values of the river is an important requirement in the process of urban construction and development. In the Thua Thien Hue Urban Master Plan approved by the Government, there is a requirement to study the protection and improvement of the environmental quality of the Perfume River in association with the central landscape axis of Hue city... To ensure these factors well, it is necessary to have a cultural and careful behavior.
Mr. Mai Khac Phuc, Chairman of the People's Committee of Kim Long Ward, an area with many activities related to the Huong River, shared: "The riverbank has been protected by embankments, parks, walking paths, etc., so the landscape has changed and become much more beautiful. In addition to maintaining Green Sunday activities, the locality also organizes forces to clean up the riverbank, and asks households living near the river to sign a commitment not to litter."
The People's Committee of Hue City and the Provincial People's Committee have issued many documents to protect the tourism environment and landscape, and requested the implementation of the campaigns "For a green Huong River", "Hue - an environmental city" and "Thua Thien Hue - Bright - Green - Clean - No Waste". However, to create a positive and synchronous response, it is necessary to join hands and raise awareness in the community.
Mr. Truong Dinh Ngo, founder of the group "Thank you Huong River" said: "We have organized many activities very well to protect and preserve the Huong River. I clearly feel the water quality through each time I bathe in the river. On both sides of the river, there are many trash cans, toilets have been added. However, we need to maintain good control to reduce trash and noise pollution."
“Most Hue people grew up drinking the water of the Perfume River, their flesh and blood are soaked in that water. I hope Hue people remember this and are grateful for the river. Only when gratitude and love for the river are awakened in their hearts will people know how to keep the river clean and clear,” said Ms. Vo Thi Huong Lan, owner of a social media account specializing in promoting Hue culture, sharing her thoughts on keeping the Perfume River green and clear.
