The historical experience program "Lam Son Gathering of Righteousness" contributes to bringing the value of cultural heritage to students.
Expand the learning space.
In the journey of digitizing heritage, young people are emerging as a crucial factor in bringing heritage closer to the community. While government agencies and sectors play a role in building and developing digital platforms, young people bring creative energy and the ability to convey information in a language suitable for the modern era. Their storytelling of heritage is not limited by traditional lectures, but is expanded through social media platforms, multimedia products, and especially through educational and experiential historical learning models organized by young people themselves.
One of the outstanding examples is the group of young people from Dong Son Event and Tourism Joint Stock Company. Originally operating in the tourism and events sector, after a long period of research and surveying historical sites and figures in the province, young people Huu Ngo, Ha Dong, Xuan Manh, and many colleagues in the group realized an important need: students need to access history in a lively, practical way that is suitable for the digital generation. From there, with the active support of experts and researchers, they developed "Teambuilding through History," with programs such as: Lam Son Uprising, the Battle of Ung Chau, the Southward March, etc.
Notably, the programs are held directly at historical sites – where historical memories are most vividly present. The "Lam Son Gathering of Righteousness" experiential program utilizes immersive sound technology, accompanied by narration and stage effects. Students participating in the program embody historical figures, using simulated props and costumes, deciphering secret messages, and undertaking role-playing challenges. The games and challenges, combined with sound effects and stage performances, recreate important historical milestones and stories. As a result, students not only listen but also "live" with history, thereby gaining a deeper understanding and lasting memory of their homeland, Thanh Hoa – a land steeped in the glorious history of the nation. Thanks to its high level of interaction combined with technology, the program has received positive responses from students, teachers, and parents of many schools in the province. Mr. Doan Huu Ngo (Dong Son Event and Tourism Joint Stock Company) said: "Before implementing each program, we consult with researchers and lecturers to verify the materials, review the script, and agree on the delivery method. In addition, we research and apply digital technology to make the experiential activities more engaging and deliver better educational results."
Bringing heritage to the digital platform.
Beyond just experiential activities, many young people have boldly used digital platforms to spread the value of heritage. Short videos introducing historical sites, vlogs exploring local heritage, etc., are increasingly appearing on digital platforms such as TikTok, YouTube, and Facebook. A prime example is the "Thanh Hoa Chill" channel by Trinh The Hung (Sam Son ward), which has attracted 1.4 million likes and 67,900 followers on TikTok. Many videos have gone viral thanks to their engaging storytelling, multi-dimensional shots, and their ability to bring heritage beyond geographical boundaries to a wider audience. Numerous videos have garnered millions of views and interactions, demonstrating the powerful reach of heritage when conveyed through the language of young people.
Mr. Trinh The Hung said: “Digital platforms like Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube, if properly utilized, can be effective channels for promoting cultural heritage values. The important thing is to choose details that are appealing, easy to share, and accessible to viewers. Through these digital platforms, I've also made friends with similar passions and together we've built and developed "Thanh Hoa Chill." We always strive to make the cultural and historical values of our homeland more accessible to viewers, and each video contributes to fostering love for our homeland among us digital content creators.”
It is known that within Hung's digital content creation group, many other young people are also striving to build channels promoting heritage, turning each video into a small "window" for the public to discover the cultural beauty of Thanh Hoa province. What is noteworthy here is the creativity in storytelling, the choice of approach, and the spirit of respect for heritage that has helped them connect with the community. Through this, they not only contribute to building their personal brand and the appeal of their channels on social media platforms but also create new value for their homeland's heritage.
According to Dr. Nguyen Thi Truc Quynh, Head of the Tourism Department at the University of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the content promoting heritage on digital platforms created by young people is not only creative but also has a strong ripple effect because it suits the current information needs of a large audience. She also believes that the participation of young people makes cultural tourism destinations more accessible, providing further motivation for the preservation and promotion of traditional cultural values. This also naturally fosters a love of history among the younger generation.
With dedication and commitment, many young people are making significant contributions to revitalizing Thanh Hoa's heritage by telling stories through technology. Their digital content and well-organized historical experience programs demonstrate their capabilities, passion, and proactive approach in bringing heritage closer to modern life. And when heritage is told by young people who understand traditional values and know how to convey them through technology and modern language, the preservation of Thanh Hoa's heritage will undoubtedly have a greater chance of sustainable and inspiring conservation in the future.
