The Party Charter clearly states: The Party is the vanguard of the Vietnamese working class, faithfully representing the interests of the working class, working people and the entire nation.
However, in the context of the country's development to adapt to new industries and new technologies, there have been erroneous views, distorting the working class nature of the Communist Party of Vietnam . These erroneous views claim that the Party is no longer the Party of the working class but the "Party of the nation", the "Party of the entire people".
At the same time, it is believed that in the current economy , the historical role and mission of the working class has ended, replaced by the role of intellectuals, the increasingly widespread and popular use of artificial intelligence will lead to the fading of the role of workers in production, replaced by the leadership, management and administration roles of intellectuals...
All of the above arguments have only one purpose: to deny the historical mission of the working class, to deny the role and working class nature of the Communist Party.
Reality has proven otherwise. In an article commemorating the 94th anniversary of the Party's founding, titled "Proud and confident under the glorious flag of the Party, determined to build an increasingly prosperous, civilized, cultured and heroic Vietnam", General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong continued to affirm: "The Communist Party of Vietnam is the vanguard of the Vietnamese working class; The Party was born, exists and develops for the benefit of the working class, the working people and the entire nation.
When the Party is in power, leading the whole nation, it is recognized by the whole people as its leading vanguard, and therefore the Party is the vanguard of the working class, at the same time the vanguard of the working people and of the entire Vietnamese nation. Saying so does not mean to downplay the class nature of the Party, but rather to demonstrate a deeper and more complete awareness of the class nature of the Party, because the working class is a class whose interests are unified with the interests of the working people and the entire nation.
This is not only a theoretical issue but also a practical one: Even in the context of the scientific-technological revolution and the knowledge-based economy with strong developments, the working class is not like the proletariat in the 19th century, meaning that they are not only a class of “manual workers”, “muscle workers”, “simple workers” and “unintelligent” people… but in reality the working class is tending towards intellectualization. They are present in almost all economic sectors.
From that, it can be seen that the Communist Party of Vietnam is the only ruling party, not at all a subjective arrangement of a class or a political force, but first of all because the Communist Party of Vietnam is the Party of the Vietnamese working class, of the Vietnamese nation, and has met the objective requirements of the Vietnamese revolutionary movement.
Regarding the Vietnam Trade Union, the Party defines it as “a socio-political organization operating in a socialist-oriented market economy led by the Party and managed by the State; it is both a socio-political organization and an organization representing, caring for, and protecting the legitimate and legal rights and interests of workers. The activities of the Trade Union are under the comprehensive and absolute leadership of the Party”.
Maintaining and strengthening the working class nature of the Party and resolutely fighting against wrong and distorted views on the working class nature of the Party are two closely related tasks that are regularly posed in the activities of building the Communist Party of Vietnam. These are also important tasks of the Trade Union organization in the current context.
Resolution 02 of the Politburo dated June 12, 2021 on "innovating the organization and operation of the Vietnam Trade Union in the new situation" sets the goal: "To build a comprehensively strong Vietnam Trade Union, capable of adapting to and solving problems, performing well its functions and tasks in the new situation; to be a solid political and social foundation of the Party and State; to play a good role as a bridge, maintaining close ties between the Party and State with the working class and laborers; to be worthy of being the largest representative organization, the center for gathering and uniting the working class and laborers nationwide; to contribute to building a modern and strong Vietnamese working class, a pioneering force in carrying out the task of rapid and sustainable development of the country".
This is a fundamental goal and in reality the Trade Union has been doing its role well, while continuing to innovate to increasingly improve to meet new requirements and tasks.
Fulfilling the role and mission of the Trade Union organization well is also to maintain and strengthen the nature of the working class, affirm the deep people's and national character of the Party, and together with other classes and strata, build an increasingly rich, civilized, cultured and heroic Vietnam.
