Digital transformation with small traders
Mr. Nguyen An Son, representative of the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy, said that in the context of digital transformation and the boom of e-commerce, small traders in traditional markets are facing many challenges.
With the orientation of making traditional markets and small traders become part of the sustainable e-commerce development ecosystem, the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy has been building a digital transformation community for small traders in traditional markets and on the streets. Accordingly, small traders will be updated with knowledge and skills in digital transformation regularly; access to quick digital transformation solutions; and ask and answer questions with experts.
The Department has published a Handbook on digital transformation for traditional market traders at: https://sotay.tieuthuongvietnam.vn, providing knowledge for traders to access and apply technology to daily business activities.

In Da Nang , the city's industry and trade sector is carrying out many activities to support small traders in digital skills training; connecting and developing e-commerce.
Mr. Nguyen Van Tru, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, said that recently, the department has coordinated with units, e-commerce platforms and KOLs (influencers) to organize many training activities and guide digital transformation for small traders at Han market, Con market, Dong Da market, etc.
From these activities, the awareness of small traders about e-commerce and online business has changed in a positive direction. However, the application of digital technology and the organization of sales on e-commerce platforms by small traders still has many limitations, mostly stopping at connecting and transporting goods through personal channels without forming a sustainable business model on a digital platform.
“We expect that, with the support of the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy, and related units, digital transformation training programs will continue to be expanded and become more practical. Thereby, helping small traders and sellers in Da Nang have more opportunities to access modern business trends, improve sales efficiency and gradually integrate into the current development of e-commerce,” said Mr. Tru.
Expand sales through digital platforms
Participating in the digital transformation training program for market managers, traders, and local vendors taking place on the morning of August 2 in Da Nang, Ms. Huynh Thi Thu Huong, in charge of e-commerce at Triet Minh Company Limited (Trimico), said that in the past, the company's products were mainly sold directly. However, with the development of e-commerce, the company is now promoting and selling through digital platforms.
“The training session provided the company with a lot of new knowledge and important skills on how to connect with customers, optimize costs and effectively manage sales through e-commerce platforms. We will apply it to improve business efficiency and reach customers across the country,” said Ms. Huong.

Mr. Vo Van Khanh, representative of the Vietnam E-commerce Association in the Central Highlands region, informed that activities to support small traders doing business on e-commerce platforms have been coordinated by the Association with the Department of Industry and Trade of Da Nang city for many years.
Mostly revolve around supporting small traders at traditional markets to livestream sales. However, the related content is now not only livestream but also expanded to digital transformation of e-commerce applications for small traders.
After successfully activating the program to support small traders to livestream sales at Con Market, the Association's program was fortunate to be included in the general support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade. The Vietnam E-commerce Association in the Central - Central Highlands region also received a proposal to develop a project and long-term plan for the period 2026 - 2030 to support small traders.
“After the implementation period, many traders in Da Nang markets have applied digital transformation and e-commerce very well, especially livestreaming activities. With a more expanded commercial system after the merger, not only traders in the market but also businesses on the streets and suppliers will be supported to participate in the program,” Mr. Khanh affirmed.
