Resolving difficulties in filling materials for public investment projects

The investor of the area exploiting soil and rock for filling materials is urgently completing the transportation connection road.

As a mine designated to serve public investment projects, the rock and soil mining area for landfill materials in Trung Vuong and Nam Khe wards (Uong Bi City) has a total reserve of 7.9 million ^m3 and an exploitation capacity of 1.8 million ^m3 /year. As soon as the procedures are completed in early May 2025, the project investor will focus on completing the connecting traffic infrastructure to soon transport and supply rock and soil to serve the province's key projects.

Mr. Hoang Van Trieu, Deputy Director of Quang Ninh Irrigation Construction Investment and Consulting Joint Stock Company - the investor of the project of exploiting soil and rock for filling materials in Trung Vuong and Nam Khe wards (Uong Bi City) said: Under the direction of the province and the implementation of departments, branches and Uong Bi City, the current legal procedures and on-site procedures related to public roads ensure the conditions for supplying the projects, however, there are still some problems with the transportation route.

The riverside route connecting Ha Long - Hai Phong expressway to Dong Trieu city, the section from Dam Nha Mac intersection to provincial road 338 is currently under construction.

Having additional quarries in Trung Vuong and Nam Khe wards will create more sources of filling materials to serve the province's key projects being implemented in Quang Yen town and Uong Bi city. In particular, at the riverside road project connecting Ha Long - Hai Phong expressway to Dong Trieu city, from Dam Nha Mac intersection to provincial road 338, the source of soil and rock for the project is currently being taken from Bac Son quarry, Uong Bi city, with a transport route of about 21km to the construction site and the source of soil from Quang Hanh ward (Cam Pha city) to the construction site is about 40km and must use both river and road transport. Using soil and rock at Trung Vuong quarry will save costs and transportation time.

Mr. Vu Duy Binh, Site Manager, Vinh Thinh 122 Company - representative of the joint venture contractor currently working on the project, said: The project is currently in the stage of filling the roadbed and the current soil source can ensure that the filling meets K95 quality, however, in the later stages, the mines currently serving the project cannot ensure the volume and quality of the K98 layer. When the mines in Trung Vuong and Nam Khe wards are put into operation, not only will the transportation route be reduced by 5-6km, but the quality of K98 soil will also be better guaranteed for the contractor to speed up the progress.

Removing difficulties in the source of filling materials will contribute to speeding up project progress and disbursing public investment capital.

To overcome difficulties in material sources for the construction of public investment projects, along with the soil mine in Trung Vuong ward, since the beginning of 2025, the province has directed departments, branches and localities to complete procedures and be ready to exploit soil and rock at Tay Son and Duc Son soil mines in Dong Trieu city. Thereby, contributing significantly to speeding up the construction progress and disbursement of public investment capital.
