The implementation of Zebra's solution not only helps bring a convenient and modern self-checkout experience to Gramedia's customers, but also helps reduce the amount of lost books.
Gramedia has successfully deployed Zebra's RFID-integrated retail solutions across its entire chain of stores.
As Indonesia’s largest bookstore chain with over 100 stores nationwide, Gramedia is at the forefront of innovation, constantly exploring new solutions to improve operational efficiency and service quality. The implementation of Zebra’s RFID solution has brought about impressive results such as reducing inventory count time by 50%, helping shoppers self-checkout 60% faster than usual, and freeing up 75% of staff time to focus on activities that bring higher value to customers. In addition, Zebra’s RFID technology also helps Gramedia increase inventory management accuracy by up to 50% and reduce human errors.
“Zebra’s RFID solution has significantly enhanced our customers’ shopping experience by optimizing transaction speeds, reducing human errors, and minimizing shrinkage through the RFID-integrated exit gate setup,” said Agus Yulianto, CIO of Gramedia. “We believe that the continued adoption of Zebra’s cutting-edge technology will significantly improve operational efficiency, especially in inventory.”
Zebra's FX7500 fixed RFID reader and AN610 slimline RFID antenna were integrated by Gramedia into the self-checkout solution, while Zebra's FX9600 fixed RFID reader and AN480 and AN440 wideband RFID antennas were the breakthrough solution in Gramedia's RFID integrated gateway system.
To implement this solution, Gramedia worked closely with PT Duta Kalingga Pratama (DKP), a Premier Solution Partner in Zebra’s PartnerConnect network. Understanding the business challenges Gramedia was facing, DKP collaborated with Zebra to design a bespoke, customised solution that helped optimise costs, improve efficiency and optimise resources.
“Indonesia’s retail industry is growing rapidly, contributing more than 10% of the country’s GDP and expected to reach a market value of approximately USD 243 billion by 2026. This growth is driving forward-thinking retailers to invest in cutting-edge technology to maximize profits and enhance the shopping experience, thereby achieving greater customer trust and loyalty,” said Eric Ananda, Country Manager for Indonesia at Zebra Technologies.
Christanto Suryadarma, Vice President of Sales, Southeast Asia (SEA), Korea and APJeC Regional Channel, Zebra Technologies, also commented: "Vietnam's retail industry, like Indonesia, is also witnessing rapid growth and becoming an important driving force in the national economy . Vietnamese retailers are adopting breakthrough solutions such as Zebra's data-driven technologies and intelligent automation tools to optimize operational efficiency, enhance shopping experiences and build customer loyalty, laying a solid foundation for sustainable success in the future."
