The exhibition “Friends” - held at the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum, has partly brought the atmosphere of enjoying art in Thang Long land with many elegant features of the past of Trang An to be more fresh and radiant in the years.
Childhood by artist Tran Dinh Khuong
Two artists from Hanoi , Tran Dinh Khuong and Doan Thuy Hanh, have created an artistic “duet” based on traditional lacquer materials with a solid technical foundation and expertise. The unique combination of traditional lacquer techniques with modern painting styles has brought about works that express the gentle and kind beauty of the Vietnamese people.
As for artist Tran Dinh Khuong, he focuses on the subject of carp and fighting fish, using traditional lacquer techniques combined with the method of “embroidering and weaving brocade” to create areas of flowing color, bringing a feeling of tenderness and elegance. The image of fish in his paintings is not only a cultural symbol but also a messenger representing the will and effort to overcome one’s own limits, reflecting the depth of Vietnamese consciousness.
Artist Doan Thuy Hanh chose the theme of portraits of children and flowers, using lacquer on canvas to increase the ability to express bright colors and the range of light and dark in the painting. This technique helps her vividly express the world of children and nature, bringing a sense of serenity and purity.
Little Girls and Lotus by artist Doan Thuy Hanh
Painter Nguyen Ngoc Anh, from Hanoi, has been faithful to his realistic style of depicting deserted alley walls, bicycles... for many years, evoking childhood memories. For Nguyen Ngoc Anh, the image of bicycles on old walls and small alleys is a subject that brings him endless emotions.
The work "Luc Xuan" by artist Nguyen Ngoc Anh
In Ngoc Anh's paintings, inanimate objects seem to be personified. Nestled on the sidelines of a busy life, they "tell" about simple things, memories lost over time. His paintings bring a sense of nostalgia, vividly recreating but also vaguely dreamy about the old space of old streets, ancient houses, and the quiet, mossy corners of Hanoi. With a gentle, deep color palette, earthy yellow, gray-brown, and faded green, interspersed with opaque white patches, like the dust of time covering everything. It can be said that Nguyen Ngoc Anh's paintings are a symphony of memories of old Hanoi, told with extremely delicate multi-layered oil painting techniques, and imbued with poetry in every street corner, house, and old bicycle. It is no coincidence that his paintings are loved by many people and are present in many collections at home and abroad.
Green Garden by artist Pham Hoang Anh
Artist Pham Hoang Anh was born in Hai Phong but studied, lived and worked in Hue. The strong and somewhat rebellious qualities of the coastal people blended with the space filled with the golden past of the quiet capital have created an artist with a romantic, soaring soul but also full of the reality of life.
His compositions with bright, strong color palettes combined with good techniques on modern acrylic material in a series of works about the seasons, with Spring, Summer, Autumn... then the changing seasons, then the abstract composition of time on an impressive realistic background have shown an abundant aesthetic energy.
Artist Nguyen Thi Anh Mi, born in 1972 in Hue, is a prominent artist in the field of silk painting in Vietnam. Graduated from Hue University of Arts in 1992, she has participated in many domestic art exhibitions, including national exhibitions and the national silk painting exhibition in Hanoi in 2005.
With the series of Paper Birds participating in this exhibition, Nguyen Thi Anh Mi uses traditional silk painting techniques, combined with personal creativity to create a unique style.
Painter Dinh Ngoc Thang from Ho Chi Minh City came to the exhibition with a series of works with the theme "Young women and the beauty of Spring", created with expressive oil paint and a brilliant color palette. With a steady brushstroke and a delicate way of handling oil paint, the skill of creating bright and vibrant color harmony has brought about a deep visual effect and many emotions when viewing the paintings. With this series of works "Young women and Spring", the painter once again demonstrated his abundant creative energy, profound artistic inspiration and his very professional skill in using materials.
