According to Mr. Cuong, last year's 10th grade entrance exam had about 61% of students admitted to public 10th grade schools.
This year, in order to reduce pressure on students, high schools have expanded, repaired, and built new ones to increase enrollment targets. Specifically, through reviewing and assigning targets to schools in advance, in the 2025-2026 school year, enrollment in grade 10 increased by about 5,000 students, equivalent to an increase of 3%.
Up to now, districts are actively completing 3 high schools in Dong Anh, Thanh Tri and Cau Giay to put them into use in time for the new school year. After they are put into operation, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training will calculate to assign quotas as well as enrollment plans for grade 10.
“The school will be put into operation after the students have registered their wishes, so the Department of Education and Training is also considering the option of allowing “overflow admission”. However, to ensure the quality of the input, the unit will regulate the score and admission area,” said Mr. Cuong.

In 2024, construction of a high school in Dong Anh district began. It is expected that this school will be operational in the next school year. |
According to Mr. Cuong, along with the plan to put more high schools into operation and increase enrollment quotas in the coming time, the rate of students entering grade 10 of public high schools in the 2024-2025 school year will continue to increase to more than 64%. This is a great effort by Hanoi city as well as districts that have arranged land funds and resources to build schools.
It is known that the high school in Dong Anh has a total investment of more than 217 billion VND. The school has 45 classrooms, meeting the learning needs of about 1,800 students.
The project includes a 3-storey building and a 2-storey block including classrooms, functional buildings and a head office block meeting the criteria of a national standard school.
High School in Cau Giay district is built on land plot A11, planning area K7-1.
This school has a total construction area of about 12,800 square meters with 4 floors above ground and 1 basement including subject classrooms, multi-purpose rooms, library, traditional rooms, rooms to supporteducation for disabled students...
The 10th grade entrance exam for the upcoming school year will be held in Hanoi in the next few days. This has long been a highly competitive exam because of the large number of candidates registering for the exam while the enrollment quota for 10th grade in public high schools is only around 60-62%. In inner-city districts, public high schools have not yet met the needs of students.
