Hanoi assigns police to investigate and verify the case of 'girl beaten and humiliated in Chuong My district'

TPO - The Hanoi People's Committee assigned the city police, the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, and the Department of Education and Training to coordinate with Chuong My district to direct functional units to inspect, verify, and handle the case of "a girl being brutally beaten and humiliated" in Chuong My district.

The Office of the Hanoi People's Committee has just issued Document No. 6938 dated June 9, 2024, notifying the direction of Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Vu Thu Ha on urgently inspecting and clarifying the case of a 14-year-old girl being beaten in Chuong My district.

According to the document, on June 8, 2024, the press published information about "a 14-year-old girl being forced to smoke by classmates and brutally humiliated", which occurred in Chuong My district, Hanoi city.

Regarding this matter, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Vu Thu Ha assigned the People's Committee of Chuong My district to direct the district's functional agencies to urgently inspect, verify, and conclude to clarify the case according to the provisions of law. Ms. Ha also requested the functional agencies to have a plan to intervene and support children according to regulations; report the implementation results to the City People's Committee before June 12, 2024.

The City People's Committee assigned the City Police, the Departments of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, and Education and Training, based on their functions and tasks, to coordinate with Chuong My district to direct functional units to inspect, verify, and handle the case according to regulations; report to the City People's Committee on contents beyond their authority (if any).

Earlier, on the afternoon of June 6, due to a personal conflict, a 6th grade female student at Hoang Van Thu Secondary School (Chuong My District) was beaten, stripped, and forced to smoke by a group of students from several secondary schools. The incident was then filmed and posted on social media, causing public outrage.

Immediately after receiving the information, the Director of Hanoi City Police Department directed Chuong My District Police to urgently coordinate with professional units to verify and handle the case according to the provisions of law. Through verification, Chuong My District Police have clarified 7 cases related to the incident.
