Hanoi enhances people-to-people exchange, expands multi-field cooperation with South Africa

During the working trip to the Republic of South Africa from May 28 to June 3, the Hanoi delegation led by Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city Nguyen Lan Huong carried out many activities to promote people-to-people exchanges and survey community tourism development models in major cities of South Africa. The activities contributed to expanding cooperation between Hanoi and South African localities, while promoting the image of the dynamic and unique capital to international friends.

According to Hanoi Moi newspaper, at Lesedi Cultural Village - a community tourism model that stands out with its vivid representation of the cultural life of the Zulu, Xhosa, Pedi and Basotho ethnic groups - the delegation learned how South Africa combines the preservation of indigenous culture with sustainable tourism development. This model puts people at the center of heritage conservation, while also providing a vivid experience of traditional rituals, cuisine , architecture and art.

Ms. Nguyen Lan Huong commented: "Hanoi currently has many traditional craft villages, ancient villages and residential communities, such as: Duong Lam ancient village, Bat Trang pottery village, Van Phuc silk village, or Quan Ho villages in the suburbs. Learning from the Lesedi model can open up a new direction in developing cultural tourism combined with experientialeducation , creating sustainable livelihoods for local people and spreading the cultural values ​​of Vietnam and the capital Hanoi to the world."

During the trip, the delegation interacted with South African youth and students. They expressed their special love for Vietnamese culture, especially the ao dai, traditional cuisine and the peaceful and friendly image of Hanoi .

According to the Hanoi People's Committee's electronic information portal, the delegation also visited and met with the Vietnamese community in South Africa, listened to their sharing and encouraged them to actively integrate into the local society, preserve national culture, and promote their role as a bridge in promoting people-to-people exchange and cooperation between the two countries.

In the administrative capital of Pretoria, the delegation worked with the Vietnamese Embassy in South Africa. Vietnamese Ambassador to South Africa Hoang Sy Cuong said that South Africa is the largest economy in Africa, with great potential in the fields of agriculture, processing industry, mining, tourism and technology. Vietnam and South Africa established diplomatic relations in 1993 and South Africa is currently Vietnam's first Partner for Cooperation and Development in Africa. Hanoi and South African localities still have great potential for cooperation, especially in the fields of science, investment, tourism, culture and education.

Ms. Nguyen Lan Huong highly appreciated the support of the Embassy and informed about the socio-economic development situation of Hanoi. She suggested that the Embassy continue to be a bridge to promote the image of Hanoi; support business connections, promote trade and investment, organize fairs, events to promote goods; promote tourism cooperation, cultural exchange, training links and human resource development between Hanoi and localities in South Africa.

She affirmed: "Hanoi City wishes to coordinate with the capital Pretoria, through the Vietnamese Embassy in South Africa and the South African Embassy in Vietnam to connect the business communities of both sides, promote potential cooperation opportunities and support businesses. In addition, with a unique and attractive cultural foundation, the two sides need to create conditions to enhance cultural and artistic exchanges; promote people-to-people exchanges, promote culture between Hanoi and major cities of South Africa, contributing to the common achievements of the bilateral relationship between Vietnam and South Africa".
