Haaland opened the scoring for Man City , with a header against Napoli in the 56th minute - a goal that made the Norwegian striker enter Champions League history.

With this goal, Haaland became the fastest player to reach 50 goals in the Champions League – after only 49 matches! The previous record belonged to former MU and Real Madrid striker – Ruud van Nistelrooy, who reached that number after 62 matches.
A 2-0 win over Napoli, with the other goal coming from Doku, gave Man City a good start in the Champions League this season. But Kevin de Bruyne, who moved to Napoli in the summer, did not have a full return to the Etihad, having to leave the field in the 26th minute, as the visitors were reduced to 10 men after Giovanni Di Lorenzo was sent off in the 21st minute.

Phil Foden, who assisted Haaland’s 50th Champions League goal, praised his team-mate: “ It’s something we’ve worked on in training. Haaland can always make those runs. I knew he was going to be there before I passed the ball.
He seems to be challenging all records. At Haaland's age, no one has done that.
If he continues to perform like this, he will reach new milestones that others cannot. He is a fantastic player and someone that Man City really need in this year's campaign ."
Captain Pep Guardiola is also proud of his number 1 striker: “ The numbers say it all. Man City are lucky to have Haaland. If he doesn’t get injured, he can play at the top level for another 10-12 years and even better .”
