Being a person who is eager to learn and has an innovative mindset, Mr. Nguyen Van Vu (Hamlet 2, Thuy Tay Commune, Thanh Hoa District, Long An Province) started to approach drone technology through an acquaintance's introduction.
After a period of research, realizing the great potential of this technology in agricultural production, in 2020, he boldly invested in a drone worth about 600 million VND.
Mr. Nguyen Van Vu (Hamlet 2, Thuy Tay Commune, Thanh Hoa District) uses drones in farming with high efficiency.
When using it to spray pesticides on his family's jackfruit garden, Mr. Vu saw clear results.
Mr. Vu shared: “Previously, each spraying took a lot of time and effort, not to mention direct contact with chemicals which was very dangerous for health. Now, you just need to stand in one place to control the device, the drone will automatically fly to the area that needs to be sprayed and do the job accurately and quickly.”
According to Mr. Vu, the drone's spraying speed is fast, the amount of pesticide is evenly distributed and penetrates deep into the tree canopy, helping to increase the effectiveness of pest and disease prevention. Not only does it save labor, the device also helps to significantly reduce the amount of pesticides used, limit waste, protect the environment and the health of farmers.
Currently, in addition to serving the production of 1 hectare of jackfruit, Mr. Vu also expanded the service of spraying pesticides for hire at a price of 150,000 VND/ha. The machine is capable of setting up an automatic flight path and suitable spraying mode, taking only about 10 minutes, the drone can spray 1 hectare of rice, 15 times faster than the traditional method. Meanwhile, the cost of hiring workers to spray pesticides can cost millions of VND.

“The drone sprays very evenly, the pesticide particles are fine and small, reaching the base of the plant without knocking down the rice. The fertilizer is also spread evenly, much more effectively than the manual method.
In particular, farmers do not have to wade through the fields like before. Currently, not only people in the hamlet but also people from other localities contact me to schedule spraying,” said Mr. Vu.
Faced with increasing demand, he continued to invest in two new drones to serve production and service provision. Thanks to bold innovation and application of technology in production, Mr. Vu now has a stable income and improved family life.
Secretary of the Party Committee of Thuy Tay Commune, Thanh Hoa District - Ngo Le Dung said: Mr. Vu's model not only contributes to the development of household economy but also opens up a new, modern, and sustainable direction for many local farmers in the digital transformation period.
In recent times, the locality has also implemented many practical support policies such as creating conditions for farmers to access preferential loans, organizing technical training courses and encouraging the replication of modern production models./.
