The construction of the world's first chemical vapor deposition (CVD) graphene film mass production facility, a key component used in advanced electronics and batteries, has just been completed in South Korea, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy said on November 18.
A VNA reporter in Seoul quoted information from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy of South Korea as saying that the inauguration ceremony of the factory owned by Graphene Square Group - a Korean graphene film manufacturer, was held in Pohang city in North Gyeongsang province, 270km southeast of Seoul.
Graphene film is an ultra-thin layer, used in flexible displays, wearable electronics and advanced batteries, known for its flexibility, transparency and high electrical and thermal conductivity.
Graphene is a key material that determines the competitiveness of advanced industries, according to an official from South Korea's Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy of South Korea pledged to come up with measures to promote the development of this industry, and said that Graphene Square's factory is expected to help Pohang city - the center of Korea's steel industry, find new growth drivers for the region in the context of a serious crisis in the steel industry./.
