At around 4:00 a.m. on May 29, a 52-seat passenger van with a Dak Lak license plate was traveling on Provincial Road 741 carrying dozens of people from Binh Phuoc to Ho Chi Minh City. When it reached the So Sao intersection intersecting with National Highway 13 in Hiep An Ward, the car collided with a container truck with a Tay Ninh license plate.
The accident caused the bus frame to be dented, the glass to shatter, and the front of the container truck to deform. Four people on the bus were injured, three of whom suffered minor injuries, and one person was hit in the head by flying glass. Dozens of passengers screamed. People nearby ran to break down the door to rescue the victims and take them to the hospital. The remaining passengers transferred to another bus to continue their journey to Ho Chi Minh City.
Two vehicles collided in the middle of the intersection, causing local congestion on Highway 13 and Provincial Road 741 for several hours. Authorities and traffic police arrived to move the vehicles and regulate traffic. The initial cause was that the rain limited visibility, the passenger car braked suddenly on slippery roads, then swerved and hit the container truck.
