Accordingly, the Deputy Prime Minister assigned the People's Committee of Tien Giang province to be responsible for announcing and rewarding according to regulations; continue to maintain and improve the quality of criteria, focusing on economic and environmental criteria to ensure sustainability in building new rural areas. This achievement is very important and very proud for Tien Giang province in the process of building new rural areas.
This is the result of the solidarity, consensus and persistent efforts of the entire political system, people and business community in the province over the past 15 years; not only affirming the leadership and drastic direction of Party committees and authorities at all levels, but also clearly demonstrating the proactive, creative and determined spirit of the rural people of Tien Giang.

After 15 years of implementing the National Target Program on New Rural Construction, Tien Giang has mobilized resources from the central and local levels, capital combined from programs and projects in the area, credit sources, businesses, people... with a total amount of about 167,339.102 billion VND to implement the program. Up to now, the province has recognized 135/135 communes in the area as meeting the New Rural Standards, reaching 100%, of which 70 communes have been recognized as meeting the advanced New Rural Standards, reaching 51.85% and 16 communes have met the model New Rural Standards, reaching 11.85%; 11/11 district-level units in the area have been recognized by the Prime Minister as meeting the standards/completing the task of building New Rural Construction, including 2 districts of Cho Gao and Go Cong Dong recognized as meeting the advanced New Rural Standards.
Tien Giang province is one of the first two provinces in the Mekong Delta region to achieve 8/8 regulations on the province completing the task of building new rural areas in the period of 2021 - 2025 according to Decision 321/QD-TTg dated March 8, 2022 of the Prime Minister; Decision 125/QD-TTg dated January 15, 2025 of the Prime Minister amending Clause 8, Article 1 of Decision 321/QD-TTg dated March 8, 2022 of the Prime Minister.
The national target program on new rural construction in recent times has comprehensively changed the appearance of rural areas in the province in a more positive direction. Rural infrastructure has been invested in more synchronously, agricultural production has increasingly developed in a more effective and sustainable direction, the application of science and technology has been promoted, and the material and spiritual life of the people has been constantly improved.
Specifically: The province's per capita income is high compared to other provinces in the Mekong Delta and has a fairly high growth rate, from 18.7 million VND in 2010 to 55.8 million VND in 2020 and reaching 76.4 million VND/person in 2024, an increase of 4.08 times compared to 2010. The poverty rate has decreased significantly (by the end of 2024, the poverty rate will decrease to 0.79%, down 10.17% compared to 2010 and down 1.08% compared to 2020; creating jobs for 60,148 workers in the period 2021 - 2024), social security is ensured, social order and safety are maintained.
More importantly, the success in building new rural areas during this period will be a solid foundation for Tien Giang to continue implementing the National Target Programs for the 2026 - 2030 period to achieve even better results, moving towards developing rural areas in a modern, civilized, ecological and livable direction. At the same time, this is also an opportunity to attract investment, promote agricultural strengths, create breakthroughs in rural economic development and build ecological agriculture, modern rural areas, civilized farmers, in accordance with the spirit of Resolution 19-NQ/TW dated June 16, 2022, the 5th Conference of the 13th Party Central Committee on agriculture, farmers, and rural areas to 2030, with a vision to 2045.
