According to CNN , the 2,500 pandas didn't scare away visitors because they were made from recycled rubber, resin, and other materials. They appeared at the airport as part of the PANDA GO! FEST HK event – Hong Kong's largest panda-themed exhibition. Photo: AP.

According to AP , these pandas were inspired by the six pandas being cared for at Hong Kong's Ocean Park, including the panda pair Ying Ying and Le Le who arrived in Hong Kong in 2007, the twin pandas that are the offspring of Ying Ying and Le Le, and the panda pair An An and Ke Ke who arrived in Hong Kong in September. According to SCMP , on August 15, Ying Ying gave birth to twins, a male and a female. Notably, Ying Ying gave birth just one day before her 19th birthday – equivalent to about 57 years old in humans – making her the world's oldest mother panda. (Photo: SCMP)

Hong Kong hopes that raising six pandas will boost tourism, helping it regain its position as one of Asia's top tourist destinations, although caring for pandas in captivity is very expensive. Photo: AP.
