Phu Duc is good at Mathematics and likes to find practical applications of a theorem to memorize it. In addition, Duc also likes to roll up his blanket tightly and study when it's cold, the male student finds that the warmth helps him remember longer.

Before entering the finals, Vo Quang Phu Duc shared that he had been passionate about the show Road to Olympia since elementary school. Later, inspired by his "seniors", the male student decided to try his hand.

In 10th grade, Duc registered to participate in "Red Laurel" - a competition simulating the Olympia program organized by the school. After many matches, Duc won the championship and was the only representative of Quoc Hoc major to participate in Olympia this year.

Despite trying to keep a relaxed mind and not trying to cram knowledge, Duc still got "stuck" in the first round of the Road to Olympia this year. The male student then told himself to stay calm, read quickly and listen carefully to the questions before deciding to ring the bell. The change was clearly shown in the quarter-final round when he won 105 points in the Warm-up round, leading and creating a 60-point gap with the second-place player.

The part of the competition that Duc likes the most is the Obstacle Course because the contestants need to find keywords based on the clues that are the answers to the sub-questions. According to the male student, the excitement and challenge of this game attracts him.

In the final match, Duc once again demonstrated that passion when the MC read the question in the first horizontal line of suggestions and the male student quickly pressed the bell to gain the right to answer the keyword, consolidating his leading position in the mountain climbing team.

The male student believes that if he takes advantage of the opportunity, the Obstacle Course will be the turning point of the competition. The contestant who finds the key word early can improve his score or create a big gap. The chases in the Road to Olympia will help the male student gain more confidence in the competition.

Teacher Nguyen Phu Tho , Principal of Quoc Hoc High School for the Gifted in Hue, said that Duc was a student of Nguyen Tri Phuong Secondary School - a high-quality school in Hue.

When he first entered Hue National High School for the Gifted, Duc soon showed his talent for Math. He was a student specializing in Math at the school and was once a reserve for the Math team to compete in the national excellent student competition. However, Duc then focused on investing in the Red Laurel program to diligently train and practice to participate in the Road to Olympia competition and reached the finals of this competition.

“Duc soon showed his passion for the Road to Olympia competition. During his studies, Quang was very hard-working, energetic, sociable, and a very responsible student. In addition to studying and training well, Duc also enthusiastically participated in school movements and Youth Union and Association activities,” said teacher Nguyen Phu Tho.

Olympia champions are awarded a gold-plated laurel wreath. The laurel wreath for the only winner in the final round of the Road to Olympia 2024 is made of copper and plated with 18k gold. The laurel wreath is still crafted by designer Do Van Tri (stage name To-Ri).

Designer Do Van Tri also revealed that the laurel wreath with each leaf was hand-cut and carved. Every small detail shows the sophistication and ingenuity affirming the value of the champion's efforts and perseverance.
