to places where people need medical care. Each free medical examination, consultation and treatment trip not only helps people, especially the elderly, children and the disabled, to detect diseases early and receive timely treatment, but also spreads the spirit of sharing and responsibility to the community. Thereby, the image of Quang Ninh doctors with the heart of "Doctors are like mothers" is increasingly affirmed in the hearts of the people.
Spread the love
On the morning of the first day of June, the space at the Center for the Care of Children with Special Circumstances suddenly became more bustling than usual. The children who were usually quiet and shy around strangers today had bright, innocent smiles on their faces, eager to have their hearts examined, their blood pressure measured, their blood tested, their teeth checked...
The free medical examination program organized by the Provincial General Hospital provided comprehensive and dedicated care from specialists in Pediatrics, Cardiology, Orthopedics, Dentistry, etc. Each child was carefully examined and screened. The examination atmosphere was filled with warmth from affectionate eyes, caring hands and gentle words of encouragement, making the children feel familiar and peaceful.
Luong Duc Tuan (13 years old) has a thin body, but his eyes show a strong will. He is one of three siblings being cared for at the Center for the Care and Support of Children in Special Circumstances. Orphaned of both parents, Tuan had to be treated for kidney disease at the Provincial General Hospital not long ago. Tuan said: The last time I went to the hospital to treat kidney disease, my health has improved. Today, the doctors examined me again and gave me careful instructions, I feel very secure. I hope to be healthy enough to go to school more regularly, and when I grow up, I will be able to do something to help others, like the doctors helped me today.
Through screening, doctors have discovered that some children have signs of heart valve stenosis, regurgitation, scoliosis, gingivitis... These diseases seem simple, but can be a great burden for orphans and disabled children. The valuable thing is that each child receives thorough advice and guidance on specialized treatment when needed.
Doctor CKII Nguyen Ba Viet, Director of the Provincial General Hospital, could not hide his emotion: Every child here needs to be loved twice as much. We come not only to examine the patients, but also to share and send the community's concern to the less fortunate children. Hopefully good health will be the foundation for them to rise up.
Not only the doctors of the Provincial General Hospital, at the end of May, a team of doctors from the Quang Ninh Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital also had a mobile medical examination trip to the highland communes of Vu Oai, Son Duong, Bang Ca (Ha Long City). Overcoming the winding road from early morning to the highland people, the doctors and nurses brought with them not only medicine, but also the dedication and heart of doctors for the community.
Dr. Nguyen Thi Nhu Sao (Department of Neonatology, Quang Ninh Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital) shared: Each mobile examination trip is a meaningful journey for us. It is not only an opportunity for people to access specialized medical services right where they live, but also an opportunity for us to directly listen, understand and share the difficulties in people's lives. Seeing the smiles and peace of mind of everyone after each medical examination and treatment, we feel very warm and more confident in our mission.
Along with medical examination activities, doctors and nurses also organize community health communication, from personal hygiene, oral care, to early detection of common diseases such as anemia, high blood pressure, uterine fibroids, etc. The knowledge seems very simple, but has a great influence, contributing to changing living habits, raising awareness of disease prevention rather than treatment in the community. "I have high blood pressure, still go to the commune health station for examination, but this time the provincial doctor directly examined me, adjusted the medicine accordingly, I feel much more secure. The doctor spoke easily and was very friendly" - Mr. Hoang Duc Sinh (Dong Rua village, Vu Oai commune, Ha Long city) shared.
The medical vehicles not only carry medicines and equipment, but also the hearts of the doctors. From the children at the Child Care Center for Special Needs to the people in the mountainous areas with many difficulties, everyone feels the sincere concern and dedicated care of the doctors and nurses. The images of the doctors caringly examining patients and gently talking to them have left trust and warmth in the hearts of every child and every person in the mountainous areas with many difficulties.
Overcoming difficulties, connecting people with healthcare
Quang Ninh is a province with diverse terrain, many high mountains and remote islands. People in many places still have difficulty accessing specialized medical services. A trip to a district or provincial hospital can sometimes take a whole day of trekking through forests and streams, costing a lot of money in accommodation, transportation and psychological pressure when entering an unfamiliar medical environment.
Understanding that, since 2016, the Quang Ninh Health sector has organized mobile medical examination teams, bringing medical services to villages, hamlets, and island communes where people need timely and convenient health care. Major hospitals such as Vietnam - Sweden Uong Bi, Provincial General Hospital, Bai Chay, Obstetrics and Pediatrics, Cam Pha Regional General Hospital, etc. regularly coordinate to deploy dozens of mobile medical examination trips each year.
The destinations are mountainous communes such as Dong Van, Huc Dong (Binh Lieu district), Luong Minh, Dap Thanh (Ba Che district), Tan Binh (Dam Ha district) or remote island communes such as Thanh Lan (Co To district), Thang Loi (Van Don district)... At the examination points, the medical team and doctors do not mind the long distance, bring along necessary medical equipment, and set up temporary clinics right at the village cultural house or commune health station so that people do not have to go far but still have access to highly qualified doctors from the provincial and district levels.
Mobile medical examinations do not stop at detecting diseases, but also include caring conversations and gentle advice on how to eat, live, and maintain health from doctors to people. Cases suspected of having chronic diseases or showing dangerous signs are specifically guided to higher-level treatment. People are given free medicine.
Mr. Tang Van San (Quang Son commune, Hai Ha district) is being monitored and treated for high blood pressure at the commune health station. Previously, Mr. San was diagnosed with the disease during a mobile examination organized by the Provincial General Hospital. Mr. San said: At that time, I often felt tired, but I thought it was due to old age. Thanks to the doctor's early detection and treatment instructions, my health is now much more stable. In a mountainous area like ours, having a doctor come to your home to examine you is very valuable. I hope this program can be maintained regularly so that people can live a healthy life with peace of mind.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu (Mong Duong Ward, Cam Pha City) also had a memorable experience when participating in the free examination, consultation and screening program for gynecological diseases and cervical cancer organized by CDC Quang Ninh in collaboration with Cam Pha City Medical Center. Ms. Thu said: I used to be very shy about going to the doctor, especially for women's diseases. But that day's examination made me feel secure. The doctor examined me very gently, clearly explained each result, carefully instructed on disease prevention and advised me to have regular check-ups. Thanks to this program, I understand more about my own health, know how to care for and take better care of myself.
On average, each year, the mobile medical examination and treatment trips have served more than 17,000 people in disadvantaged areas. Many people are happy when their illnesses are detected in time, lonely elderly people feel secure, and children in the highlands smile brightly when they are examined by doctors right on the spot without having to travel far.
Mobile medical examinations and charity medical examinations not only demonstrate responsibility to the community but also vividly demonstrate the "Skilled Mass Mobilization" movement of the Quang Ninh Health sector, contributing to strengthening the close relationship between the Party, the State and the people. The doctors on that journey are the "nucleus" of the movement, bringing with them professional knowledge and a compassionate heart to serve the people. They not only treat diseases, but also convey love and trust, contributing to building a healthy and strong community from the root.
