By the end of October 2025, 10 new communes in Thuan Chau area have 19 centralized water supply works for rural areas; over 100 small and scattered water supply works serving people's lives. Up to now, the rate of households using clean water in Thuan Chau area is over 80%, exceeding the target set in the new rural construction program for the period 2021-2025.
After the administrative reorganization, Chieng La commune now has 2 centralized water supply works serving the needs of nearly 3,000 households. The first project of the commune was inaugurated at the end of 2017 with a total investment of over 4.7 billion VND. After being handed over and put into use, the project has a long pipeline supplying clean water to nearly 500 households in 7 villages, including: Long Cao, Nua, La Lom, Huong Kho, Pu Nau, Tau and Nong U.

Ms. Lo Thi Hoa, Pu Nau village, Chieng La commune, shared: With the domestic water supply project, we no longer have to worry about water shortages during prolonged rains and during the dry season every year. People in the village tell each other to use water economically; monitor the water supply schedule to get enough water for daily activities. We are also instructed to monitor the pipeline to detect damage or broken water pipes to report to the Project Management Board to promptly repair and fix the problem as soon as possible.
The inter-village water supply system in the area of Noong Lay and Tong Co communes (old) of Chieng La commune has been put into operation since mid-2019. With a designed capacity of 700m³/day and night, the project has met the domestic water needs of more than 1,000 households. Along with exploitation and operation, the people of the villages are also instructed on how to use water economically, reduce loss and waste, helping the project operate effectively and sustainably.

Mr. Lo Van Dieu, technician of Noong Lay - Tong Co water supply station, Chieng La commune, said: In nearly 7 years of operation, we have always maintained regular maintenance of the filtration system, chemical treatment and water pumps for households. With the increasing demand for water use of the people, we have coordinated with the management board of each village to specifically announce the water pumping time for each village cluster so that people can get water in time for use. Pipeline monitoring is also deployed to detect and promptly fix any problems if any.
The highlight of the clean water model in Thuan Chau area is the active participation of the people in the exploitation and operation process. Instead of depending entirely on the government, the villages have established a Water Supply Management Board in the village, elected by the people and responsible for managing the water source in the village; the collection of water fees is implemented according to the regulations of the Provincial People's Committee.
After the establishment of a two-level local government, Thuan Chau area continued to maintain this management model in the villages and under the direct management of the People's Committees of the communes. At the same time, people contributed labor to repair water pipes and clean water tanks. Thanks to this method, the rate of construction failures decreased significantly, and people regularly had clean water to use.
Mr. Duong Gia Dinh, Chairman of Binh Thuan Commune People's Committee, said: Currently, Binh Thuan commune has about 15 domestic water supply works. The Commune People's Committee has assigned the operation of the works to the villages where the works are located. At the same time, the Economic Department is assigned to regularly monitor and request monthly reports on domestic water supply data for the people. Through monitoring, if the quality of the water source is found to be unsatisfactory, it will be proposed to the Department of Agriculture and Environment to take samples and evaluate the quality of domestic water sources. Timely propose treatment measures to ensure the quality of the water source meets the daily needs of the people.

The effectiveness of clean water projects in Thuan Chau area is demonstrated through specific figures with the rate of rural people having access to clean water reaching 84.92%; contributing to improving community health with a 30% reduction in cases of intestinal diseases in 2025 compared to before 2017. Due to better living conditions, people have time and health to study and produce, promoting the development of household economy . Currently, communes in the area are studying and proposing to build 10 new centralized water supply projects to meet the needs of modern life. At the same time, strengthen training for Community Management Boards to operate the projects sustainably.
Thanks to the effective promotion of domestic water supply works in communes in Thuan Chau area, it has contributed to improving people's quality of life and speeding up the progress of new rural construction in localities in the area.
