The clubs maintain regular activities with rich and diverse content and organization, attracting a large number of elderly people in the locality to participate.
Among them, the Elderly Club helping the elderly in Dien Sanh town is considered a club with many meaningful activities, contributing to improving the health and spirit of the elderly. Mr. Le Thanh, Chairman of the Elderly Club helping the elderly in Dien Sanh town shared: “The club is mainly retired cadres. For the club to operate effectively, the Club's Board of Directors actively coordinates with population officers and medical officers of the district and town to develop plans and activities such as: organizing health check-ups, consulting on self-care for common diseases of the elderly (diabetes, blood pressure...).
Inform new policies and guidelines, especially policies related to the elderly. Coordinate with other clubs in the district to organize cultural and artistic competitions, physical education and sports through practical playgrounds such as: volleyball, aerobics, chess, bonsai... to help the elderly have the opportunity to interact happily. We also mobilize social resources, contribute funds to serve the activities of the club and visit members when they are sick or pass away. With a gentle and cheerful way of living, the club becomes a useful playground for the elderly in the locality.
“Since joining the club, receiving advice, medical examinations, and regular exercise and sports, I have seen a clear improvement in my physical and mental health, especially in my bones and joints. My mind is sharper, my spirit is more optimistic and I love life more. The club is truly a place for us to meet, exchange, and motivate everyone to live happily, healthily, and usefully together.
From there, actively propagate and mobilize children in the family and everyone to well implement the policies, laws of the Party and State and the benefits of implementing population and development work", Ms. Nguyen Thi Loi, a member of the Elderly Club helping the elderly in Dien Sanh town happily said.
Continuing to maintain and improve the quality of the Elderly Care Club model, from 2022 to now, Hai Lang district has expanded 6 more Elderly Care Clubs to help the elderly. In addition to quarterly activities, the clubs coordinate with the health - population sector of districts, communes and towns to organize specialized talks to provide knowledge and skills for self-care for the health of club members.
In particular, in response to the traditional day of the Vietnamese Elderly (June 6) and the International Day of the Elderly (October 1), the District Health Center organizes cultural, artistic, physical education and sports exchange activities for clubs in the whole district such as: volleyball and folk dance exchanges. Strengthen communication activities to raise awareness of changing behaviors in elderly health care; guide the elderly to take care of their own health; improve the capacity of commune and town health stations to organize periodic health check-ups for the elderly.
