Recently, the Women's Union of Tan Thanh district, Long An province has focused on disseminating preferential credit policies to officials and people, especially those eligible for loans; at the same time, coordinating with the Transaction Office of the Social Policy Bank (SPB) of the district and local authorities to consolidate and improve the quality of social policy credit activities. Up to now, the outstanding loan balance of the district Women's Union is over 171 billion VND, 3,318 borrowers have outstanding loans; 100% of loan groups participate in monthly savings with a total of over 16 billion VND.
Chairwoman of the Women's Union of Tan Thanh district - Nguyen Thi Tuyet Nhung said: "Increasing loan capital sources; at the same time, creating awareness and saving habits for members, the Women's Union at all levels coordinates with the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies to organize propaganda and mobilize members to practice saving and depositing into the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies. To make the capital effective, the Union creates conditions for women to participate in training courses on transferring science and technology in livestock and crop farming organized by all levels".
From preferential loans, many female members have the conditions to rise up.
As one of the loan groups that has done a good job of managing the capital entrusted by the Social Policy Bank, Ms. Nguyen Thi Nhien - Head of the loan group in Nguyen Loc hamlet, Hau Thanh Dong commune, shared: The group has 60 members who borrowed capital with an amount of more than 3 billion VND for the programs: Students, clean water and environmental sanitation, job creation, ... all of which have brought practical results. Thanks to the loan capital, poor and near-poor households have the conditions to rise up.
After 10 years (2014-2024) of implementing the policy credit program, the Women's Union of Tan Thanh district has contributed to helping more than 2,000 poor and near-poor households borrow capital to overcome difficulties , create jobs for 7,000 workers, thousands of students in difficult circumstances have borrowed capital to study, build clean water and rural environmental sanitation works, contributing to the implementation of the National Target Program on sustainable poverty reduction and new rural construction in the area.
According to information from the Women's Union of Tan Thanh district, through the implementation of entrusted lending work with the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies, the branches have built many meaningful models to effectively implement entrusted lending work for poor households and other policy beneficiaries,... contributing to the socio-economic development in the locality./.
