According to a parent whose child is studying at Ky Van Primary and Secondary School, at a recent parent meeting, the teacher presented a fundraising plan and announced the expected contribution of 850,000 VND/student.

According to this parent, such a contribution is too high for students in rural areas. "Looking at the list of items requiring contributions, we were dizzy and overwhelmed," the parent said.

According to this person, in addition to the above fees, at the beginning of the school year, parents had to pay a number of fees such as cleaning (99,000 VND/student), class parent fund (300,000 VND), school parent fund (70,000 VND) and experiential activities (70,000 VND).

2024 mobilized 922 million VND

Speaking to VietNamNet reporter , Mr. Vu Viet Thanh, Principal of Ky Van Primary and Secondary School confirmed that this year the school has a plan to mobilize more than 934 million VND in sponsorship. However, according to Mr. Thanh, the school does not collect equal fees, and the fundraising is voluntary.

"If any class edits the sponsorship content, we will review and check again. The school will not direct the implementation of equal collection levels," Mr. Thanh said.

He said that after receiving feedback from parents, the school made a report and sent it to the People's Committee of Ky Van commune.

According to Mr. Thanh, after merging Ky Van Primary and Secondary School, the number of students this year increased to 1,162, while facilities are still lacking.

"After holding a parent-teacher conference, the school will base on the minutes to show the parents' consensus on the level of funding. However, without carefully studying the class meeting minutes, the incident occurred where parents posted information loudly on social networks.

For parents who have comments, we will review and invite them to explain and discuss further. For items that need to be mobilized, the commune has also sent a delegation, coordinated with the parent representative board to survey, and the Economic Department has calculated the expected items. Merging the two schools together, there should be many items that need to be adjusted," Mr. Thanh said.

According to the school leaders, the amount of money raised this year of more than 934 million VND is estimated, but the school will use whatever is raised.

"Last year, the school mobilized 950,000 VND/student and raised more than 922 million VND, with 100% of parents agreeing. The 922 million VND mobilized last year has been used up. This year, we will continue to mobilize to use for new items," Mr. Thanh added.

According to information from the People's Committee of Ky Van commune, after receiving feedback on the fundraising activities for educational activities at Ky Van Primary and Secondary School, to clarify the reported contents, the unit issued an official dispatch, requesting the Principal to check and verify the reported contents on fundraising activities at the school.

In addition, the People's Committee of Ky Van commune also requested the school to report the process of implementing the fundraising work to the People's Committee of the commune.
