Introducing the group, Mr. Eklavya Bhave said: Coursera is a global online learning platform, providing access to online courses and degrees from leading universities and companies, serving more than 180 million learners, cooperating with more than 300 leading universities and corporations in the world such as Google, IBM, Meta...

Founded in 2012, Coursera provides access to high-quality education for everyone, regardless of location or economic status. Since then, Coursera has grown rapidly to become one of the world's largest online learning platforms, attracting millions of learners from all over the world.

Over the past 5 years (2020-2025), Coursera has expanded its operations in Vietnam, aiming to digitize education and develop skills for the young workforce. Coursera has applied a localized pricing policy specifically for Vietnam since September 2025, reducing the cost of certificates and learning packages by up to 60%, making international quality content more accessible.

The number of Vietnamese learners on Coursera has quadrupled, reaching more than 1.9 million by mid-2025, making Vietnam the platform’s third-largest market in Southeast Asia. Coursera has also localized its content, launched more than 3,000 courses with Vietnamese subtitles, and integrated artificial intelligence “Coursera Coach” that can support and answer learners’ questions in Vietnamese.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed many potential cooperation contents. Bringing Professional Certificates from Coursera (issued by large technology corporations such as Google, IBM) into university training programs, helping students equip themselves with digital skills, AI, and professional skills according to the actual requirements of the global labor market.

Support universities in developing short-term training programs, granting certificates or online learning modules to meet the needs of lifelong learning. Provide courses/certificates on Coursera for high school and university teachers on the application of AI and Information Technology in teaching.

Through the discussion, Deputy Minister Le Quan agreed on a number of key contents. Specifically, the Ministry of Education and Training will sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Coursera in the near future. The two sides will coordinate to organize seminars on online skills training, targeting vocational colleges, professional secondary schools and promoting cooperation between businesses and schools. Along with that, the Ministry of Education and Training will pilot Coursera's vocational skills training programs, then consider expanding to universities and high schools.
