60 years of 'shining tradition - steady steps into the future'

GD&TĐ - 60 years of construction and development, Yen Dung High School No. 1 affirms its position in the educational career of Bac Ninh province as well as the whole country.

60 years ago (1965), in the heroic land of phoenix flowers, located at the foot of Nham Bien mountain range, Yen Dung district, Ha Bac province (old), Yen Dung High School - the predecessor of Yen Dung High School No. 1, Bac Ninh province was born. From the first classrooms built with bamboo and earthen walls, through war and countless hardships, Yen Dung High School No. 1 has gradually grown up, affirming its position in the educational career of the province as well as the whole country.

Step by step

The first generations of teachers and students of the school certainly cannot forget the difficult beginning, when the school had only four classes with 150 students, having to study in the grounds of Nham Son primary school. With the labor of teachers and students, along with the contribution of parents and local authorities, thatched classrooms, mud walls and tiled grade 4 classrooms were built one after another, laying the foundation for the school's development.

The row of houses built in 1966 is a part of the dear memories of the school.

During the period of the American Empire's destructive war that spread throughout the North, teachers and students had to evacuate to many locations, sometimes from Minh Phuong to Dong Viet, sometimes from Dong Viet to Minh Phuong, then to Kem hamlet, to Chon stream... It was not until 1973 that the school returned to its current campus. Despite experiencing bombs and bullets, and natural disasters, teachers and students still diligently taught and studied. Many former students of the school at that time became leaders, generals, scientists , lecturers, and famous businessmen; many of them sacrificed their blood and bones for the Fatherland...

Peace was restored, and together with the people of the whole country competing to build a new life, teachers and students of the school happily entered a new stage. With the motto "The State and the people work together", dozens of solid classrooms were built to replace the thatched houses. In the 1990s, the school continued to have a high-rise building, becoming one of the most spacious schools in Ha Bac province (old). Along with the change in facilities, the emulation movement of good teaching - good learning was also promoted by the school. Every year, the school has students winning First, Second, and Third prizes at the provincial level.

During its 60-year journey, the school has been recognized by the Party, the State and all levels of the industry with many noble awards: Third-class Labor Medal (2000), Second-class Labor Medal (2015), Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister, many emulation flags and certificates of merit from the Ministry of Education and Training, People's Committees of Bac Giang and Bac Ninh provinces. Many collectives and individuals have also been honored and rewarded for their contributions to the cause of education.

Currently, the school has 36 classes with 1,553 students and 89 staff, teachers and employees; of which over 70% are young teachers. The school considers improving the professional qualifications, political theory and pedagogical skills of the staff as a breakthrough to improve the quality of comprehensive education. The school currently has 34 teachers with master's degrees, many of whom have achieved the title of Provincial Excellent Teacher, with effective applied experience initiatives. 100% of teachers are proficient in information technology in teaching, meeting the requirements of the 2018 general education program innovation and integration with modern education.

In recent years, the students' learning and training movement has achieved many proud results. In the 2023-2024 school year, the school won 114 awards for excellent students in culture at the grassroots level, 21 provincial awards (including 2 first prizes), 2 provincial science and technology competition awards, along with many awards for sports, culture, youth creativity, and reading culture ambassadors. In the 2024-2025 school year, the school continued to maintain its achievements of 173 awards for excellent students in culture at the grassroots level, 32 provincial awards (3 first prizes, 10 second prizes, 15 third prizes), along with many awards for sports, science and technology creativity, and arts.

Along with improving the quality of key education, the school focuses on comprehensive education. Physical activities, life skills, and creative experiences are organized regularly, helping students to hone their skills, develop independent and creative thinking. Students not only study well but also actively participate in social activities, volunteer, and spread humanistic values ​​in the community.
