Ho Chi Minh in visual arts
On the occasion of the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2025), many exhibitions commemorate his contributions to the cause of national liberation and construction.
The exhibition “Ho Chi Minh in the visual arts” will take place from May 16 to 30, 2025 at the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum. Not only recreating the image of Ho Chi Minh as a great revolutionary and leader, the exhibition also expresses the artists’ sincere feelings and deep admiration for him.
The exhibition introduces 60 works selected from a collection of hundreds of works by Vietnamese and foreign painters, sculptors, and artisans about President Ho Chi Minh, with different genres and materials such as: painting, graphics, sculpture, embroidery, paper carving, and statues by folk artisans. Each work depicts an important mark in the life, activities, and revolutionary career of President Ho Chi Minh. There are moments: Uncle Ho in his youth, Uncle Ho searching for a way to save the country; President Ho working at the Northern Palace; Uncle Ho on a campaign, President Ho with the people, the landscape of Uncle Ho's residence and workplace...
The works help viewers easily perceive typical slices of Uncle Ho's revolutionary life and lifestyle. In the group of themes of Uncle Ho during his revolutionary activities, the most prominent work is "President Ho works in Viet Bac" (lead, 1948) by artist Phan Ke, which recreates the image of Uncle Ho in the Viet Bac resistance base during the resistance war; the painting "Uncle Ho goes on a campaign" by artist Nguyen Duc Du (1984) and the bronze sculpture of the same name by Nguyen Phu Cuong (2018) also vividly depict the spirit of the leader in the battlefield during difficult times. Notably, the work "Uncle Ho reads the Declaration of Independence" (color powder, 1979) by Nguyen Duong evokes the sacred moment of the birth of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam...
