After 10 years since the 2013 SEA Games, this is the first time Vietnam has failed to achieve an undefeated record on the journey to the championship.

However, the team's playing style has improved a lot. One of them is the diverse attacking ability, with six different players scoring: Huynh Nhu (three goals), Nguyen Thi Bich Thuy, Pham Hai Yen, Tran Thi Thuy Trang, Nguyen Thi Thanh Nha (both two goals) and Ngan Thi Van Su (one goal).
