"I was quite satisfied with the way the team played in the first 70 minutes. But we were punished brutally even though the opponent did not have many chances," coach Thomas Tuchel said at a press conference after the 0-3 loss to Man City in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals at the Etihad Stadium.

"Half of our goals were down to mistakes. We played a very good first half and an even better second half, if we had got the goal we deserved, the momentum could have changed.

It sounds silly because the game ended 3-0 in their favor, but we were punished brutally.

I was happy to watch the team play from the sidelines, but we were bitter about conceding the second goal. Rodri's opening goal was hard to stop.

"Today we also had a lot of chances and a lot of shots, but we didn't have the luck or the accuracy to put the ball in the top corner like Rodri. When scoring was difficult, we made a big mistake and were punished," coach Tuchel shared.

The first leg of the Champions League quarter-final was just Thomas Tuchel's fourth game in charge of Bayern since replacing the sacked Julian Nagelsmann.

The German won both Bundesliga games to take Bayern back to the top of the table. However, the 49-year-old also oversaw Bayern's shock 2-1 defeat to Freiburg in the German Cup and now faces the prospect of being eliminated from the Champions League.

"It's a huge mountain to climb. But I won't let my players give up. We won't give up until the last minute," coach Thomas Tuchel affirmed his determination in the second leg of the quarter-final against Man City.
