Each family of the victims of the coal mine collapse will receive 120 million VND in support.

On August 27th, information from Vang Danh Coal Joint Stock Company indicated that the company is coordinating with relevant authorities to organize the funeral arrangements for the four workers who died in the coal mine collapse. Initially, the company, along with the Quang Ninh provincial authorities, is providing 120 million VND to each victim's family.

The delegation from the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province listened to a report on the developments of the incident.

Specifically, Vang Danh Coal Joint Stock Company provided 70 million VND to each family of the injured workers; the Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee provided 20 million VND to each family; the Vietnam Coal and Mineral Industry Group (TKV) provided 20 million VND to each family; and the TKV Trade Union provided 10 million VND to each family.

According to initial information, at approximately 7:20 PM yesterday, August 26th, a coal mine collapse occurred in the wing area of ​​mining workshop 3 (Vang Danh Coal Joint Stock Company), burying 4 miners.

After about 50 minutes of searching, at 8:10 PM on the same day (August 26), the bodies of four workers were recovered from the scene.

The identities of the four miners were later confirmed as: Luong Hoai Nam (30 years old, from Hong Viet commune, Dong Hung district, Thai Binh province); Truong Van Dai (33 years old, residing in Vang Danh ward, Uong Bi city); Nguyen Duc Thao (35 years old, from Quynh Hoi commune, Quynh Phu district, Thai Binh province); and Pham Tien Dung (36 years old, residing in Mao Khe ward, Dong Trieu town, Quang Ninh province).

The initial cause, as determined by authorities, was that heavy rains in the Vang Danh area (Uong Bi City, Quang Ninh province) in recent days caused a water pocket to burst, leading to the collapse of the coal mine.

Also this afternoon (August 27), Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien visited Vang Danh Coal Joint Stock Company to discuss the serious labor accident mentioned above.

This is the location where the coal mine collapse killed four workers.

During the inspection, Mr. Nguyen Hong Dien requested TKV and Vang Danh Coal Joint Stock Company to utilize state and enterprise policies and mechanisms to provide maximum support to the families of the deceased workers. Vang Danh Coal Joint Stock Company was also instructed to cooperate with departments and divisions of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and other relevant agencies to clarify whether the company's labor safety regulations and standards have been strictly and correctly implemented, and whether the incident was an unfortunate and unavoidable event.

Minister Nguyen Hong Dien also suggested that, following this incident, TKV should review current legal regulations and industry regulations related to occupational safety to propose and recommend timely amendments and additions to regulations on occupational safety coefficients in underground mining.
