Completion of the package for supplying and installing navigation systems at Long Thanh Airport

(DN) - Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM) said: The package to supply and install the DVOR/DME system at Long Thanh International Airport has been completed on schedule, ensuring technical quality according to international standards.

The DVOR/DME system is an air navigation system that combines two devices: DVOR (microwave omnidirectional navigation station) providing flight direction information and DME (distancing station) providing distance information from the aircraft to the ground station, helping the aircraft determine its position accurately during take-off, landing and long-distance flights.

The package for supplying and installing the DVOR/DME system at Long Thanh Airport is executed by Air Traffic Management Engineering Company Limited (a unit under VATM). This is one of the important technical items, playing a key role in ensuring safe, accurate and effective flight operations for the most modern airport in the country.

Also according to VATM, in the context of the Long Thanh Airport Project being rapidly deployed in all categories, the DVOR/DME navigation system project is considered the "heart" of the navigation equipment network, helping to control take-off and landing operations, and guide aircraft in all weather conditions. Therefore, right from the first days of implementation, the team of engineers and technicians of Air Traffic Management Engineering Company Limited has closely coordinated with the Long Thanh Project Management Board and related units to organize construction, installation, and system integration according to technical requirements, ensuring full compliance with the standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

During the construction of the package, from October 6 to 12, 2025, the technical team coordinated with the calibration test flight team to conduct flight inspection and calibration of the DVOR/DME Long Thanh equipment. After many days of continuous work, the technical parameters were fine-tuned, the system operated stably, met inspection standards, and was ready to be put into service. Up to now, the installation, calibration, and flight inspection of the DVOR/DME Long Thanh system have been basically completed, preparing to enter the inspection, acceptance, and handover phase for official operation.
