Vietnam delegation to compete in Abu Rayhan Biruni International Chemistry Olympiad 2025. |
At the closing ceremony of the Abu Rayhan-Biruni International Chemistry Olympiad (ARBIChO) 2025, which took place on June 3, all four students of the Vietnamese delegation won prizes.
Accordingly, the three students who won gold medals were Do Trung Kien (Bien Hoa High School for the Gifted, Ha Nam), Nguyen The Minh ( Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted) and Trinh Duc Anh (Vinh Phuc High School for the Gifted).
In particular, Kien won two more prizes, being the candidate with the highest theoretical score and the excellent candidate, meaning achieving the highest total theoretical and practical score.
The silver medal belongs to Trinh Viet Hoang (Ha Long High School for the Gifted, Quang Ninh ).
The Abu Rayhan Biruni International Chemistry Olympiad is a prestigious scientific competition organized by the Ministry ofEducation of Uzbekistan from 2023, every two years, for students under 18 years old. This is the second time that Vietnam has sent students to participate in this competition.
This year, the exam took place from May 28 to June 4, attracting more than 110 candidates from 14 countries. Hanoi University of Science and Technology was assigned by the Ministry of Education and Training to host the exam, in coordination with the Vietnam Chemical Society to organize the delegation.
In particular, four students were selected from the list of students who entered the second round of the exam to select the team to participate in the 2025 International Olympic Committee (TST).
This year's competition consists of two rounds. The practical round requires candidates to do experiments for 90 minutes, with a maximum score of 30. The theoretical round consists of 8 tasks, each task worth a maximum of 10 points, and lasts 4 hours. The total highest score of the two rounds is 110. The number of candidates with prizes does not exceed 60% of the total.
