Diplomatic Academy celebrates 65th anniversary

NDO - On the morning of December 2, the Diplomatic Academy solemnly held a ceremony to celebrate its 65th founding anniversary. During its 65 years of establishment and development, the Diplomatic Academy has always strived to excellently complete all assigned tasks, becoming the leading scientific research and training institution on international relations in Vietnam, contributing effectively to the country's foreign affairs and international integration.

Attending the ceremony were Comrade Bui Thanh Son, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister , Minister of Foreign Affairs; Comrade Le Hai Binh, Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Editor-in-Chief of the Communist Magazine; Comrade Pham Lan Dung, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Council, Former Acting Director of the Diplomatic Academy, along with generations of leaders, cadres, lecturers, staff, alumni and students of the Diplomatic Academy.

On behalf of the Government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son assessed that during 65 years of construction and development, the Diplomatic Academy has always strived to excellently complete all assigned tasks, becoming the leading scientific research and training institution on international relations in Vietnam, contributing effectively to the country's foreign affairs and international integration.

One of the bright spots of the Diplomatic Academy in recent times pointed out by comrade Bui Thanh Son is the promotion of autonomy.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs highly appreciates the success of the Academy in gradually catching up with the trend of university autonomy and educational innovation. It can be said that the decision to pursue university autonomy and comprehensively innovate the educational work of the Academy is a brave and correct decision of both the Academy and the Ministry,” the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed.

Besides, the work of strategic research, East Sea research, training and education, information and documentation, and unit building of the Academy is focused on, comrade Bui Thanh Son highlighted.

As a former student of the Diplomatic Academy, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son also shared his feelings and recalled old memories. “Although there were times when he studied in Hanoi and times when he had to evacuate, the spirit of overcoming difficulties and passion for research and study always shone brightly at the Diplomatic Academy of that time. Many excellent children from this school put down their pens and went to the front lines to answer the sacred call of the Fatherland, fighting and sacrificing for the country to be independent, free and developed as it is today,” comrade Bui Thanh Son recalled a difficult but heroic time for generations of students of the Diplomatic Academy in particular and for the nation in general.

On this occasion, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son also pointed out important tasks that the Academy needs to focus on implementing in the coming time, especially in the new development stage of the country - the era of national growth.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs affirmed that in order to realize the vision, goals and strategies for national development in the new era, the entire diplomatic sector, including the Diplomatic Academy, must be determined to innovate thinking and action, synchronously, creatively and effectively implement foreign affairs tasks and build and develop the diplomatic sector to be strong, comprehensive, modern and professional; worthy of being the "vanguard", the combined arms of the Vietnamese revolution.

Comrade Bui Thanh Son also pointed out specific tasks, orientations, and work for the Academy to develop in the coming time and expressed his belief: "The Diplomatic Academy will become the core of strategic research on international relations, a red address for education and training, fostering foreign affairs knowledge and international integration for the Diplomatic sector and the country".

Speaking at the ceremony, Comrade Nguyen Hung Son - Acting Director of the Diplomatic Academy shared: "With the achievements gained in the past time, I believe that the collective of cadres, civil servants and employees of the Academy will continue to promote the spirit of solidarity, rich tradition, continue to do well the mission of education and training, and complete the assigned tasks.

The Academy has deeply absorbed and grasped the guidelines and vision for the development of the Academy as directed by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs. We will strive to grow, raise our international stature, and enter the group of leading training and research institutions in the region by 2030.”

Also at the ceremony, generations of leaders and students of the Academy had intimate conversations, together recalling memories. Generations of school leaders expressed pride in the 65-year journey of the Diplomatic Academy, as well as shared concerns, pointing out the challenges that the Academy must face in the coming period in order to calculate development strategies.

To celebrate the 65th anniversary of the founding, the delegates and school leaders also cut the ribbon to inaugurate the Diplomatic Academy's traditional room. The Academy's leaders believe that this will be a solid spiritual support to help generations of cadres, lecturers, staff and students of the Academy continue to promote the achievements they have made, contributing to the glorious tradition of the school.
