Vietnam National University of Agriculture ranked 4th and 5th respectively out of 53 Universities and Research Institutes in Vietnam according to the SCImago organization's rankings.

SCImago 2025 Achievements

The SCImago Institutions Rankings (SIR), established in 2009 by SCImago (Spain), evaluates global research institutions based on the Scopus database of Elsevier Publishing House. In 2025, Vietnam National University of Agriculture (VNUA) will rank 4th among universities in Vietnam, up 2 places compared to 2024, thanks to the following criteria:

Research performance (50%) : Evaluated by the number of scientific articles, citation rate, internationalization level, and journal quality (17th).

Innovation capacity (30%): Measures research impact on technology, number of patents, and patent citations (6th).

Social Influence (20%) : Based on online presence and links to the Academy's website (13th).

VNUA leads the country in veterinary medicine, ranks 15th in agriculture, biological sciences, biochemistry, genetics, molecular biology, and 25th in environmental sciences, affirming its leading position in applied research.

Facilities and faculty

Vietnam National University of Agriculture (VNUA), established in 1956, is a national key university under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, leading in research and training in agriculture, forestry, and sustainable development.

Located in Trau Quy, Gia Lam, Hanoi, VNUA owns a campus of nearly 200 hectares with a modern infrastructure system. International standard laboratories, equipped with advanced technologies such as GIS, remote sensing, and biological analysis, support research and teaching. The Academy's library has nearly 30,000 books, connected to international libraries, providing rich sources of documents.

The modern dormitory accommodates nearly 5,000 students, along with a sports complex with artificial turf, gym, and golf course, creating an ideal learning and living environment.

VNUA’s faculty consists of more than 1,300 staff, including nearly 100 professors and associate professors, 350 PhDs, and more than 80% were trained in developed countries such as the United States, Japan, Korea, and Europe. The dedication and high level of expertise of the faculty help students not only master knowledge but also develop research skills and creative thinking.

Key training industry

VNUA offers 49 undergraduate programs, 34 master's programs, and 19 doctoral programs, of which the two outstanding majors are Land Management and Natural Resources and Environmental Management, meeting the needs of sustainable development.

Land Management

The Land Management major provides in-depth knowledge of planning, management, and effective use of land resources. Studying this major, students will grasp issues such as:

Land use planning: Planning for socio-economic development based on land resources.

Land measurement and evaluation: Application of GIS and remote sensing technology to analyze land data.

Land policy and law: Understanding the Vietnamese legal system on land management.

Job opportunities include positions at the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, departments, or real estate and mapping companies.

Resource and environmental management

This major trains professionals to solve environmental and natural resource problems. The curriculum includes:

Environmental Science: Environmental impact assessment, waste management, protection of water, land and air resources.

Resource management: Optimizing the use of mineral, forest and aquatic resources.

Modern technology: Application of technology to monitor and manage resources.

Graduates can work at international organizations (UNEP, WWF), government agencies, or private enterprises with competitive salaries.

Innovation and Entrepreneurship

VNUA is a pioneer in promoting innovation and agricultural entrepreneurship. Since 2014, the Academy has organized 10 Agricultural Entrepreneurship Competitions, attracting more than 1,550 projects from all over the country. VNUA students account for more than 50% of the projects and won 5 first prizes at the National Entrepreneurship Competition. Many projects have developed into successful businesses, such as startups in high-tech agriculture and food processing.

VNUA’s Center for Research Excellence and Innovation, with 20 state-of-the-art research labs, is where students and faculty develop breakthrough products, from high-yield crop varieties to environmental protection technology. The institute collaborates with more than 200 international universities and organizations, providing students with international scholarship, exchange, and research opportunities.
