On August 22, the Academy of Finance announced the admission scores for majors/training programs (CTDT) at the Academy in 2025. See details HERE. Some majors have admission scores from 21 points, many people think that this is quite a low score compared to 2024 and some other major economic university training institutions.
Sharing with Education and Times Newspaper about this issue, Dr. Luu Huu Duc - Head of Training Management Board, Standing Member of the Admissions Council of the Academy of Finance said that in 2025, each university will have different admission targets and admission methods corresponding to different scoring methods and conversion methods of admission scores.
Therefore, Dr. Luu Huu Duc believes that comparing the admission score of 21 - 21 or 25 - 25 between this training institution and another training institution does not have much meaning.

For example, just converting English scores with IELTS 5.5 certificate, the Academy converts to 9 points, some schools convert to 10 points and add bonus points, so there is also a certain difference.
Or there is a school in the Police sector where the admission score for region 8 for males is 18.78 points and for females is 19.63 points. But in reality, the high school graduation exam scores of admitted candidates must be from 25 to 26 points or higher to have a chance of being admitted due to the school's method of calculating admission scores.
Many universities use many combinations of admission subjects, and there is a difference in admission scores between these combinations. Therefore, comparing admission scores between one institution and another based on the principle of equality is not suitable for this year's enrollment reality.
The subject combinations used by the Academy of Finance for admission are A00, A01, D01, D07; for many majors/training programs of the Academy, the Math and English scores in the high school graduation exam are multiplied by a factor of 2 (depending on each major/training program) when calculating the admission score, while the average Math and English scores in the high school graduation exam in 2025 are 2-3 points lower than last year.

"Therefore, it can be assessed that the score of 21 points this year is equivalent to the score of 25 points in 2024. Through this, it can be seen that the quality of candidates entering the Academy of Finance is still guaranteed" - Dr. Luu Huu Duc emphasized.
Through the analysis of the score distribution of candidates admitted to the Academy of Finance in 2025, it shows that nearly 1,000 candidates achieved an admission score of 27 points or higher, about 70% of candidates had an admission score of 25 points or higher, and only 1.9% had a score below 22 points. In addition, nearly 3,000 candidates with international English certificates or excellent student awards from the provincial level or higher were admitted to the Academy.
According to Dr. Luu Huu Duc, among the 1.9% of candidates with admission scores of 22 points or less, most are candidates who are admitted by calculating their high school graduation exam scores with the Math and English subject groups. If we compare the difficulty of this year's exam (according to public opinion), a score of 21 points can be equivalent to 25 points in previous years.
In addition, this year, the Academy of Finance does not use high school transcripts or Competency/Thinking Assessment scores for admission. Some educational institutions use high school transcripts or Competency/Thinking Assessment scores for admission and convert the scores to a high level, thus creating a high admission score.
