Vietnam Red Cross Society aims to assist at least 1.2 million people in 2025

The launching ceremony of the National Humanitarian Month 2025 was held in Ho Chi Minh City on May 8 with the theme "Humanitarian Journey - Spreading Love".

On May 8, in Ho Chi Minh City, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society coordinated with the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City to organize the launching ceremony of the National Humanitarian Month 2025 with the theme "Humanitarian Journey - Spreading Love" to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), the International Red Cross and Crescent Day, and the 135th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh.

Attending the launching ceremony were comrades: Truong Tan Sang - former Politburo member, former President, former Honorary President of the Vietnam Red Cross Society; Do Van Chien - Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, comrade Do Van Chien affirmed that with the tradition of solidarity, humanity and affection, the Vietnam Red Cross Society founded by Uncle Ho in 1946 has become a core organization in the humanitarian cause, a reliable bridge between the Party, the State and the people in the context of the country entering a new era with many advantages but also many potential difficulties and challenges such as climate change, natural disasters, epidemics...

Accordingly, the Vietnam Red Cross Society needs to continue to innovate its thinking and methods of operation, closely follow reality, closely connect with vulnerable groups, ensure professional, transparent and compassionate humanitarian principles; at the same time, it needs to actively expand international cooperation, effectively connect with domestic and foreign organizations and individuals, deploy early forecasting and rapid response models to provide timely support in all situations. Gradually build a humanitarian foundation that adapts to the general trend of the world, contributing to building an inclusive society where no one is left behind.

The Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front suggested that the Vietnam Red Cross Society actively expand international cooperation, effectively connect with domestic and foreign organizations and individuals; deploy early forecasting, early intervention, and rapid response models to promptly support the community in all situations, contributing to building an inclusive society, so that "no one is left behind".

Also at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Hai Anh - Vice President, General Secretary, and Operations Director of the Vietnam Red Cross Society said that since being allowed by the Central Party Secretariat to pilot in 2018 and officially implemented from 2021, Humanitarian Month has connected millions of hearts for a humane and sustainable Vietnam.

Over the past 7 years, the total mobilized value reached over 3,700 billion VND, helping more than 7.3 million people. Humanitarian Month in 2024 alone reached over 763 billion VND, helping over 1.6 million people.

During the Humanitarian Month, the Vietnam Red Cross Society aims to assist at least 1.2 million people, support 100,000 humanitarian addresses, build 500 Red Cross houses, organize 50 free medical examination and treatment programs, health consultations, and a series of humanitarian activities, with a total expected value of 400 billion VND.

On this occasion, the Organizing Committee presented gratitude plaques and flowers to individuals and organizations that have actively participated in the activities of the Red Cross at all levels; awarded 25 scholarships to students who have overcome difficulties and studied well in Ho Chi Minh City.
