National conference summarizing 50 years of literature and art after national reunification

NDO - On April 25, at Dien Hong Hall - National Assembly House, the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission coordinated with the Central Party Office; National Assembly Office; Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations to organize a national conference to summarize 50 years of Vietnamese literature and arts after the country's reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).

Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda and Education Commission, and Party Central Committee members: Mai Van Chinh, Deputy Prime Minister; Vu Hong Thanh, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly attended and chaired the conference.

Attending the conference were representatives of leaders and former leaders of departments, ministries, branches, the Vietnam Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations at the Central level; standing committees of provincial and municipal Party Committees directly under the Central Government; leaders of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committees of provincial and municipal Party Committees; leaders of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations; standing committees of central specialized literature and arts associations; leaders of local literature and arts associations..., experts, scientists and 50 artists who have made great contributions to the cause of building and developing the country's literature and arts over the past 50 years.

Speaking at the conference, comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, commented: Over the past 50 years, under the leadership of the Party, Vietnamese literature and art have made strong developments, achieving important achievements, from theoretical thinking to creative practice, dissemination methods and reception trends.

However, the development of the country's literature and arts has not been commensurate with its potential and is facing severe challenges. This reality requires a review of 50 years of Vietnamese literature and arts; and the setting out of directions, tasks, and solutions for development in the new period.

"Implementing the policy of the Party Central Committee Secretariat; in the past time, all levels, sectors and localities have organized many summarizing activities, mobilizing the participation and contributions of agencies, organizations, intellectuals, scientists and artists. Through monitoring the summary results, and today listening to the enthusiastic and intellectual opinions of the delegates; I would like to share with you, fellow artists and comrades some thoughts on the 50-year period of literature and art which is very rich, diverse and is posing very new issues", said comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia.

Many representatives of ministries, branches, theorists, critics and artists attended the conference.

Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia emphasized a number of tasks and solutions to continue to strongly promote the role and mission of literature, art and artists, focusing on building an advanced Vietnamese literature and art with strong national identity in the new development stage.

In particular, it is necessary to focus on improving the Party's leadership capacity, associated with strong innovation in thinking and appropriate and effective leadership methods to create directions and spaces for the development of literature and art; improve the effectiveness and efficiency of state management, promote the institutionalization of the Party's policies, viewpoints, tasks and solutions on literature and art; and strongly promote the development of the fields of research, theory and criticism of literature and art.

The conference attracted a large number of leaders, managers, intellectuals and artists from all over the country.

The exhibition displays more than 200 images and 200 artifacts and documents with the following contents: The attention of Party and State leaders to the cause of developing literature and art; an overview of achievements in Vietnamese literature and art over the past 50 years; introducing information about works, groups of works and authors awarded the Ho Chi Minh Prize and the State Prize for literature and art.
