Online conference to summarize the Project "Supporting women to start businesses in the period 2017

On November 30, the Vietnam Women's Union (VWU) held an online conference to summarize the Project "Supporting Women in Entrepreneurship for the 2017-2025 Period" (Project 939), deploy the Project "Supporting Women in Entrepreneurship for the 2026-2035 Period" (Project 2415) and commend typical cooperatives managed by women in 2025 (Project 01). Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended, chaired and delivered a speech at the conference.

At the bridge point of the Office of the People's Council and People's Committee of An Hoi ward, attending the conference were comrade Nguyen Quynh Thien - Provincial Party Committee member, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; comrade Nguyen Thi Kim Thoa - Provincial Party Committee member, Vice Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, Chairman of the Provincial Women's Union, and representatives of leaders of provincial departments and branches.

In her speech, Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Thoa - President of the Women's Union of Vinh Long province said: The Women's Union at all levels in the province considers Project 939 a valuable opportunity given by the Party and the State to confidently build a solid "foundation" in promoting comprehensive finance - the "golden key" to realize the development aspirations of local women. With the motto "women not only borrow capital, but also control the capital source", the Women's Union at all levels becomes a reliable bridge between women and the financial system in the area.

Comrade Nguyen Thi Kim Thoa - Provincial Party Committee member, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee, Chairwoman of the Provincial Women's Union delivered a speech at the conference.

With synchronous activities and solutions, up to now, the total outstanding debt of capital sources managed by the Association has reached more than 8,243 billion VND, supporting over 165,000 women in economic development. In particular, humanitarian capital sources aimed at poor, near-poor, single and disadvantaged women from the Social Policy Bank have helped 3,435 women in Vinh Long escape poverty. Agricultural and rural credit capital from Agribank and commercial banks continues to be the driving force to promote production, expand household economic scale, develop collective economy, create strong spillover effects in building new rural areas and developing local agricultural value chains.

In his speech, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh commended the results of the implementation of the Project "Supporting Women to Start a Business in the 2017 - 2025 period", affirming that women across the country have contributed to beautifying the eight golden words "Heroic, indomitable, loyal, and capable" awarded by President Ho Chi Minh.

The Prime Minister requested that the implementation of the Project “Supporting Women to Start-Up in the 2026-2035 period” must have higher determination and more drastic actions to promote the country's socio-economic development. Identifying women as the center of innovation, digital transformation and green transformation is the main method. Prioritizing support for disadvantaged women, women with disabilities, ethnic minority women, women in remote and isolated areas... to access start-up opportunities and enhance economic empowerment.

The Prime Minister emphasized that women need to promote the spirit of pioneering innovation, different thinking, daring to accept risks, approaching integration, complying with business ethics; mastering knowledge, science and technology and digital transformation; mastering finance and development resources; proactively turning small resources into large resources; mastering the market, the startup ecosystem and building product brands.

The Prime Minister requested ministries, branches and localities to implement the project into a specific action program; proactively remove barriers in mechanisms and policies; pay attention to recommendations of the Women's Union at all levels; step up market promotion, and create a favorable environment for women to start businesses and innovate.
