(TN&MT) - On April 13, in Nha Trang City, Khanh Hoa Province, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Journalists Association held a National Conference to review the Association's work, emulation and reward work in 2022, and orientations and tasks for 2023. Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha attended and delivered a speech at the Conference.
Journalist Le Quoc Minh, member of the Party Central Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, President of the Vietnam Journalists Association; Journalist Nguyen Duc Loi, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association; Journalist Tran Trong Dung, Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association chaired the Conference.
Attending the Conference were: Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Hai Ninh, General Director of Vietnam Television Le Ngoc Quang; Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department Tran Thanh Lam; Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Thanh Lam, together with leaders and representatives of Central Committees, Ministries and Branches, leaders of Khanh Hoa province and representatives of press management and direction agencies, press agencies nationwide; representatives of central and local committees, ministries, branches and mass organizations; representatives of Khanh Hoa province; and leaders of the Journalists' Associations and Branches at all levels of the Vietnam Journalists' Association nationwide.
During the meetings of the Party Delegation, the Standing Committee and the Executive Committee meeting on April 12, many important contents were discussed and agreed upon. The decision of the Central Party Secretariat on appointing comrade Tran Thanh Lam, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department and comrade Nguyen Thanh Lam, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications to join the Party Delegation of the Vietnam Journalists Association, term XI, 2020-2025 was announced and presented.
At the same time, the process of introducing and electing 05 additional comrades to join the Executive Committee of the Association for the 2020-2025 term was carried out: (1) Comrade Tran Thanh Lam, member of the Party Committee of the Vietnam Journalists Association, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department; (2) Comrade Nguyen Thanh Lam, member of the Party Committee of the Vietnam Journalists Association, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications; (3) Comrade Do Thi Thu Hang, Head of the Professional Department of the Vietnam Journalists Association; (4) Comrade Vu Thi Ha, Head of the Association's Working Department; (5) Comrade Le Tran Nguyen Huy, Deputy Editor-in-Chief in charge of the Journalists and Public Opinion Newspaper. And elected 03 comrades to join the Standing Committee: (1) Comrade Tran Thanh Lam; (2) Comrade Nguyen Thanh Lam; (3) Comrade Do Thi Thu Hang. Thus, up to this point, the Executive Committee of the Association for the 2020-2025 term has 57 members, the Standing Committee has 15 members and the Party Committee has 8 members.
Presenting the Report on the Summary of the Association's Work in 2022 and the Implementation of Tasks in 2023, Journalist Nguyen Duc Loi - Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association shared that in 2022, despite many difficulties and challenges, the country's socio-economic situation recovered positively and achieved important and quite comprehensive results in many fields after the Covid-19 pandemic. 2022 is also the first year of the 11th Congress of the Vietnam Journalists Association, and all levels of the Association have been striving to successfully implement the Congress Resolution.
Over the past year, the activities of the Association at all levels from the central to local levels have strived, united, and been creative, successfully completed their political tasks and achieved very encouraging results. The Association's activities have had many positive changes, going into depth, contributing to further enhancing the position, role, and effectiveness of the political, social, and professional organizations of journalists.
Regarding the tasks for 2023, the Vietnam Journalists Association has identified the theme of activities as: "Continuing to innovate methods and content of activities, building a strong Association organization, meeting requirements in the new situation"; successfully implementing the Resolution of the 11th Congress of the Vietnam Journalists Association.
2023 is the second year that the Association's organizations will implement the Resolution of the 11th Congress of the Vietnam Journalists Association, the Resolutions of the Executive Committee and the Work Program for the entire term of 2020-2025, aiming to continuously improve the role and quality of activities of the Vietnam Journalists Association in the new period, contributing practically and effectively to the propaganda and successful implementation of the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress.
Continue to implement Directive 43 of the Central Secretariat on strengthening the Party's leadership over the activities of the Vietnam Journalists Association in the new situation, the National Press Development and Management Plan until 2025, regularly improve and review the Association's organization and members, protect the legitimate rights and interests of members, promptly rectify and handle violations of the Association's organization and members. The integration trend, the development of digital technology, especially the pressure of information competition from social networks and other media platforms, pose inevitable requirements for digital transformation for the press and media, and at the same time pose new demands on the Association's work, especially the participation of the Association at all levels in supporting press agencies to carry out digital transformation, especially in training and fostering.
The Vietnam Journalists Association has outlined key tasks in 2023, including: Propagating and implementing the Resolution of the Party Committee, important events, major holidays of the country and the press. Strengthening the protection of the Party's ideological foundation, fighting against erroneous and hostile views;
Continue to implement the direction of the Party Delegation of the Vietnam Journalists Association, deploy Directive 43-CT/TW, dated April 8, 2020 of the Secretariat on strengthening the Party's leadership over the activities of the Vietnam Journalists Association in the new situation. Promote the implementation of Directive 05 of the Politburo on "Continuing to promote studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle" in conjunction with studying Ho Chi Minh's journalism style, regulations on professional ethics of journalists, Rules for using social networks of Vietnamese journalists. Criteria set for cultural press agencies and culture of Vietnamese journalists;
Implement the full-term activity program, provide guidance on implementing the revised and supplemented Association Charter to all levels of the Association and members;
Coordinate with the Central Propaganda Department, the Ministry of Information and Communications, and relevant agencies to effectively carry out press planning work;
Implementing high-quality journalism support work according to Decision No. 558/QD-TTg, dated April 8, 2021 of the Prime Minister. Coordinate with relevant agencies, organize training conferences, guide and effectively implement the High-Quality Journalism Support Program at all levels, ensuring compliance with current State regulations and instructions of the Vietnam Journalists Association;
Coordinate the organization of the National Press Conference in 2023; Organize the National Conference to summarize the Association's work, emulation and reward work in 2022; and orient tasks in 2023 on the occasion of the 73rd Anniversary of the Association's founding;
Well organize the 17th National Press Awards in 2022, celebrate the 98th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day, combined with the 17th National Press Awards Ceremony on June 21, 2023; Coordinate with Hanoi City to organize the 16th Vietnam Journalists Association Cup Table Tennis Tournament, scheduled for September 2023;
Implement the foreign affairs plan for 2023; Strengthen training in political qualities, professional skills, and professional ethics for members and journalists; Strengthen propaganda and dissemination of the implementation of the 10 regulations on professional ethics for Vietnamese journalists, and the rules for members and journalists when participating in social networks;
Coordinate with central ministries, departments and branches to organize a preliminary review of 1 year of implementing the emulation movement "Building a cultural environment in press agencies"; Coordinate with central and local ministries, departments and branches to organize a summary of 5 years of implementing Decision 979 of the Vietnam Journalists Association on managing the activities of members who are reporters of press agencies residing in the locality.
Coordinate with central departments, ministries and branches to organize specialized press awards. The theme of activities for 2023 is: "Continue to innovate methods and content of activities, build a strong Association organization, meeting the requirements in the new situation"; successfully implement the Resolution of the 11th Congress of the Vietnam Journalists Association...
As reported, right after the report of Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association Nguyen Duc Loi, the conference heard the directive speech of Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha; Welcoming speech of Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Hai Ninh.

In his closing speech at the Conference, journalist Le Quoc Minh - Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association seriously accepted the instructions, contributions, and enthusiastic discussions of the Association at all levels, on that basis, he built directions, specified tasks, revised, supplemented, and issued regulations and rules in a more practical and effective manner.
"Our conference continues to promote the spirit of solidarity, unanimity, and innovation in activities with the spirit of building a professional, humane, and modern press and media, focusing on improving the quality and efficiency of press activities; creating a cultural space and environment in press activities, building a strong association to meet the requirements of the new situation" - Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association Le Quoc Minh affirmed.
On the afternoon of April 13, within the framework of the National Conference summarizing the Association's work, emulation and reward work in 2022, and directions and tasks for 2023, a Conference on Emulation and Reward Work and a Conference to review the work of supporting high-quality journalism will take place.
