BTO-On the afternoon of March 20, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Southern Institute of Fisheries Economics and Planning co-chaired and organized the workshop "Solutions for sustainable marine aquaculture development in Binh Thuan".
Attending the workshop were Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Van Chien, leaders of the Vietnam Seafarming Association, leaders of the Institute of Aquaculture Technology, representatives of departments, branches, relevant associations, representatives of coastal localities in the province and aquaculture establishments and households at sea in areas in the province.
Speaking at the workshop, Mr. Nguyen Van Chien said that the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Binh Thuan is coordinating with the Consulting Unit (Joint Venture: Southern Institute of Fisheries Economics and Planning - Marine Engineering Institute) to establish the Project "Developing marine aquaculture in Binh Thuan province to 2030, vision to 2045". However, in the past, Binh Thuan has been affected by many storms and natural disasters, so the implementation of the project is still difficult. Therefore, through this workshop, we aim to consult scientists , management agencies, businesses and the community to contribute to completing the content of the project. Thereby, aiming to develop aquaculture, exploiting the potential advantages of water surface. At the same time, organizing sustainable aquaculture production to increase value.
At the workshop, delegates listened to many in-depth analyses of hydrological conditions and marine environment for marine farming in Binh Thuan; Current status and solutions for sustainable marine farming development.
In addition, Associate Professor - Dr. Nguyen Huu Dung - Chairman of the Vietnam Marine Aquaculture Association also shared about the potential and vision for developing marine aquaculture, in which he recommended that Binh Thuan province focus on changing traditional cage materials to HDFE, building a model of marine aquaculture combined with tourism in Phu Quy, training fishermen in industrial marine aquaculture, and at the same time having a policy for sustainable marine aquaculture management... In addition, the Institute of Aquaculture Technology also noted the experience of facilities and households in the province in choosing locations and sea areas for industrial-scale fish cage farming. At the same time, farmers are encouraged to convert to cage farming technology using high-durability materials that can withstand waves, wind, natural disasters...
The delegates frankly exchanged and discussed with the aim of completing the project, assessing the factors and resources affecting marine farming activities, in order to arrange reasonable farming areas, apply advanced scientific achievements, and develop the province's marine farming in an industrial and modern direction. Thereby, creating a quantity of goods to meet the raw materials for processing factories, improving the efficiency of the seafood value chain, contributing to the economic and social development and protection of the province's sea and island areas.
