Scientific Conference “70 years of building and developing Hai Phong - Achievements and aspirations to rise up”

Overview of the workshop.

Comrades: Prof. Dr. Phung Huu Phu, Former Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, Former Vice Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council; Le Anh Quan, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee; Tran Thi Hoang Mai, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism co-chaired and conducted the Workshop.

The workshop was attended by representatives of leaders of a number of Central Committees, Ministries and branches; experts, scientists , researchers; members of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, leaders of the People's Council, People's Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city; former leaders of the Central Committee and Hai Phong city .

Comrade Secretary of the City Party Committee Le Tien Chau delivered the opening speech at the Workshop.

Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Comrade Le Tien Chau, Secretary of the City Party Committee, emphasized: The workshop is an important occasion to look back on the historical journey, to acknowledge the great achievements that the Party Committee, army and people of the city have achieved over the past 70 years. At the same time, this is also an opportunity to point out the shortcomings, challenges and identify solutions and orientations to help Hai Phong develop rapidly and sustainably in the new period. From rich practices and valuable lessons, he suggested that the workshop focus on discussing and comprehensively and deeply assessing the process of building and developing the city; affirming creative and effective models and methods; clarifying the role and contribution of Hai Phong to the overall development of the country - especially in the context of merging with Hai Duong province; at the same time, proposing groups of breakthrough solutions, mechanisms and specific policies for the city after the merger.

The contributions at the Workshop have further clarified the potentials and development advantages of Hai Phong in the current period, while adding many new perspectives and new issues, especially in the development of the seaport economy. In addition, the presentations also emphasized the typical spiritual values ​​of Hai Phong people - solidarity, loyalty, dynamism, creativity - as the core elements that create endogenous strength, contributing to protecting, building and developing the "Loyal - Determined to Win" Port City in the era of national development.

Scientists have comprehensively evaluated the 70-year process of construction and development of Hai Phong.

Many researchers and scientists, based on their research results, have proposed to Hai Phong city good and feasible policies that can be applied in practice to develop the city's potential and advantages, such as solutions for developing Hai Phong city after merging with Hai Duong province. With the area and population doubled, Hai Phong city is facing a new opportunity to become the third largest growth pole and move towards the second position in the country in the future. However, to achieve this goal, the city must face many challenges in urban management, regional infrastructure connectivity, private enterprise development, and improving the quality of human resources.

Scientists have comprehensively evaluated the 70-year process of construction and development of Hai Phong.

Delegates also proposed many breakthrough solutions, such as innovating the growth model based on science and technology, digital economy, strong investment in strategic infrastructure, regional transportation and seaports. In particular, the workshop also suggested initiatives from successful models in the world such as Singapore, Seoul, Shanghai, Shenzhen, etc. to find an approach suitable to the conditions of Vietnam and Hai Phong.

Permanent Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Le Anh Quan delivered a concluding speech at the Workshop.

Concluding the workshop, Permanent Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Le Anh Quan respectfully thanked the leaders of central agencies, scientists and researchers for their enthusiastic contributions, for the goal of building Hai Phong to develop rapidly, greenly and sustainably in the future.

The Standing Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee affirmed that in order to continue to maintain its position and make an important mark in the journey to realize the nation's aspirations, Hai Phong will firmly orient itself towards creating a favorable investment and business environment for domestic and foreign investors. The city will focus on developing areas with strengths such as trade, seaports and logistics, and marine tourism; promoting startups and innovation as the main driving force for the development of green economy, circular economy and environmentally friendly industry.

Along with that, Hai Phong will develop harmoniously between economy and culture - society, improve the quality of people's lives, strengthen national defense - security; strive to become a livable city, a learning city, a green port city, civilized, modern and a reliable destination for large domestic and international investors./.
