Meet legitimate needs
In early May 2025, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hoa Hai Ward (Ngu Hanh Son District) organized a ceremony to hand over livelihoods to poor and near-poor households in the area. Mr. Duong Hien Qua's family (Group 14) is a poor household. He himself is sick and has to go to the hospital for dialysis 3 times a week. After understanding the needs and wishes of the family, the Hoa Hai Ward Fatherland Front decided to support his livelihood with a sugarcane juice cart worth 9.6 million VND to do business and improve his income.
Mrs. Nguyen Thi Le (group 35) is also a poor, single-parent household. In her family of 7, 6 of them are children, still in school age. To support Mrs. Le, the Ward Front gave her a sugarcane juice cart and tables and chairs to do business, earning extra income to support her children and grandchildren.
According to the representative of the Ward Front, based on the results of the dialogue with poor households who still have the ability to work at the beginning of the year, the Ward Front used the “For the Poor” Fund to give 1 pump, 3 grocery cabinets, 10 sugarcane carts, 6 bicycles, 6 sets of tables and 24 plastic chairs to 21 poor and near-poor households, with a total cost of 126 million VND. Thereby, helping households have the means to do business, increase income, develop the family economy , and escape poverty by the end of the year.
Similarly, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Thanh Khe Tay Ward (Thanh Khe District) has just given livelihoods to 6 poor households in 2025. Ms. Thai Thi Thanh Huong (born in 1976) is a single, disabled woman raising 3 school-age children. Every day, she sells bread and juice in the yard of the apartment building she is renting to earn money to take care of her children. Through dialogue, Ms. Huong was supported by the Ward Front with a juicer and tables and chairs to serve her business according to her needs.
The family of Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Lien (born 1985) is also a poor household, the husband is a motorbike taxi driver, the wife is a garment worker raising 2 small children. To help Ms. Lien have more income, the Ward Front gave her a sewing machine so she can repair clothes at home.
“I have a sewing job and really want to have a sewing machine to repair clothes in my free time, but I have not been able to buy one. Now that the local authorities have supported me in accordance with my needs, I am very touched and promise to work hard to improve my income and escape poverty,” Lien shared. Meanwhile, Thac Gian ward (Thanh Khe district) has completed the dialogue and compiled the livelihood needs of poor households in 2025.
In particular, the Ward's "For the Poor" Fund Mobilization Committee has supported 2 bicycles for 2 poor households; and is proposing the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Thanh Khe District to support funding to give 3 motorbikes, 1 cabinet, table and chairs to sell rice to the remaining households, helping them have a "fishing rod" to develop the economy and stabilize their lives.
Connecting vocational training, creating jobs
Ms. Le Dao Bich Hien (Hoa Minh Ward, Lien Chieu District) is a disabled person, paralyzed in both legs and using a wheelchair, with an unstable job. In early May 2025, Ms. Hien was introduced by the City Association of the Disabled to attend a sewing skills class organized by the City Association for Charity and Protection of Children's Rights.
After completing the course, Ms. Hien received orders to sew fabric bags, handicrafts, and household items, improving her income. Similarly, after completing the product packaging course, Ms. Le Thi Kim Lien (Thac Gian ward, Thanh Khe district) was given the opportunity to receive products to make at home to increase her income.
A representative of the City Association of the Disabled said that to support the disabled in the city in particular and the Central region in general, the association promotes vocational training introduction and job connection activities to help members increase their opportunities to access jobs.
In the first 5 months of 2025, the City Association introduced 6 members to learn sewing skills organized by the City Charity and Children's Rights Protection Association; connected and introduced jobs to 6 members. In addition, the Association also connected members to borrow capital from the City Social Policy Bank Branch, and borrowed capital from the City Association's revolving fund to develop the family economy.
A representative of the City's Association for Charity and Protection of Children's Rights said that since 2024, domestic and foreign organizations have sponsored vocational training courses for disadvantaged and vulnerable people. As a result, since the beginning of 2025, 3 sewing courses have been successfully organized: 2 basic courses, 1 advanced course for 20 students in difficult circumstances.
More than 50% of vocational students are participating in orders brought by the organization, having a stable income to take care of their families. Thereby, contributing to ensuring social security, improving the lives of people, especially those in difficult and disadvantaged circumstances.
