Scientific conference “Dak Lak – 120 years of formation and development”

On the morning of October 26, the Standing Committee of Dak Lak Provincial Party Committee coordinated with the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics to organize the scientific workshop “Dak Lak – 120 years of formation and development”. Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Dinh Trung and Professor, Dr. Le Van Loi - Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics co-chaired the workshop.

Attending the workshop were veteran revolutionaries, provincial leaders of all periods, scientists , leading experts, and representatives of relevant agencies and units in the area.

Dak Lak is a land with a rich cultural and historical tradition, an important strategic position in terms of economy, politics, national defense and security of the Central Highlands region in particular and the whole country in general. On November 22, 1904, the Governor-General of Indochina issued a Decree separating Dak Lak into one of 20 provinces and cities of the Central period under French colonial rule - this is an important historical milestone, a major turning point recognizing the position and stature of the province.

During the process of formation and development, the name Dak Lak has been associated with many important events. The people of all ethnic groups in the province, together with the people of the whole country, have fought bravely and steadfastly to protect the independence of the country, achieved many glorious feats, and recorded brilliant golden pages in history.

After 120 years of formation and development, Dak Lak now has a natural area and population that is among the top provinces and cities in the country, and is also an important traffic hub of the Central Highlands; has very favorable conditions for cooperation, connecting development spaces, creating momentum to promote economic, cultural and social cooperation with localities in the Central Highlands, the Central Coast and a number of major economic centers of the country. In particular, Dak Lak is also a place where many unique features of folk cultural values, customs and practices of the community of 49 ethnic groups living together, including the "Central Highlands Gong Cultural Space" recognized by UNESCO as an oral masterpiece and intangible cultural heritage of humanity, contributing to creating a Dak Lak rich in cultural traditions, uniqueness and strong identity.

After 120 years of formation and development, nearly 50 years of national reunification and liberation of Buon Ma Thuot, Dak Lak has made remarkable progress. The province's economy has maintained a high growth rate; the value of gross regional domestic product (GRDP) ranks first in the Central Highlands region. The province has attracted a number of large-scale renewable energy projects in the country. The structure of economic sectors has shifted positively; infrastructure is gradually synchronized; the political and social environment is maintained stably; social policies are effectively implemented; Party building and political system building are strengthened; national defense is maintained; political security and social order and safety are basically stable.

At the workshop, delegates focused on analyzing and discussing many thematic contents such as: The Central Highlands - Dak Lak in the process of unification of the flow of Vietnamese history and culture; Dak Lak province - From the especially important geographical position and historical traditions, cultural values to aspirations, visions, and directions for sustainable development in the future; Buon Me Thuot victory in the 120-year history of Dak Lak province; Key agricultural processing industry - Lever for socio-economic development of Dak Lak province; Preserving cultural heritage in Dak Lak in the current period...

In addition, delegates also analyzed and clarified opportunities, challenges, orientations and visions to build and develop Dak Lak into "the center of the Central Highlands in all fields".

Through the content of the presentations and discussions, delegates were able to access many new documents and a comprehensive, complete, and in-depth view of the history, geography, cultural traditions, stature, and position of Dak Lak in the historical process of the Vietnamese nation.

Speaking at the workshop, Party Central Committee member and Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Dinh Trung emphasized that in the coming period, in addition to the fundamental opportunities and advantages, Dak Lak is also facing many difficulties and challenges, requiring the entire political system in the province to continue to arouse and promote the spirit of patriotism, the strength of great national unity, exploit potentials and advantages; take advantage of the attention of the Party, the State, the support of the business community and all classes of people; thoroughly, comprehensively, fully grasp and seriously implement the viewpoint "Economic development is the central task, Party building is the key task, building a clean, strong, streamlined political system, operating effectively and efficiently; preserving and developing a culture imbued with national identity is the spiritual foundation of society, creating momentum for sustainable development; ensuring national defense and security is an important and regular task".

Comrade Nguyen Dinh Trung affirmed that, with the heroic tradition of 120 years of history and current political and social position, especially with a longer-term vision in the development process of the province following the Party's innovation policy, the entire Party Committee, government, army and people of all ethnic groups in Dak Lak province will continue to foster the heroic revolutionary tradition and patriotism; cherish and preserve the achievements that previous generations have worked hard to cultivate; unite, join hands, strive to overcome difficulties and challenges, determined to build Dak Lak province to develop rapidly, sustainably, increasingly rich, civilized and unique; contribute to creating a solid foundation together with the whole country to enter a new era - the era of the Vietnamese people's rise, in accordance with the viewpoints, goals and development orientations of the Party and State.
