The workshop was chaired by: Associate Professor Dr. Lam Van Tan - Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Ben Tre province, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vinh (Institute for Research and Consulting on Regional Development), former Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Quoc Bao. Also attending the workshop were leaders of provincial departments, branches and sectors; representatives of the People's Committees of districts and cities; specialized departments at the district level; experts, scientists and the business community.
According to Associate Professor Dr. Lam Van Tan - Director of the Department of Science and Technology, the period of 2026 - 2030 is pivotal for Ben Tre to make a breakthrough and realize the aspiration for sustainable development. The comments at today's workshop will be an important basis for the province to plan the right and feasible policies.
At the workshop, the Institute for Regional Development Research and Consulting presented the forecast results of key socio -economic indicators and proposed strategic directions for the province's development in the new period. Accordingly, if the planned policies are effectively implemented, the province's GRDP growth rate can reach an average of 10 - 10.5%/year; GRDP per capita will reach 87 million VND by 2030; total social investment capital is expected to reach 148.3 trillion VND. At the same time, the province aims to strongly shift its economic structure towards increasing the proportion of industry, services and digital economy, with the goal of the digital economy contributing 25-30% of GRDP.

Delegates also focused on discussing solutions to improve the quality of human resources, develop the marine economy, respond to climate change, improve the productivity of the coconut industry, promote innovation and build a digital transformation ecosystem. Many opinions proposed the need for specific policies, maximize the potential after the merger of administrative boundaries and promote regional connectivity.
The workshop ended with a high consensus on the importance of integrating science and technology into strategic planning, while affirming the central role of people and businesses in the comprehensive and sustainable development of the province in the coming years.
