Scientific workshop on solutions to solve the shortage of production labor in rural areas

(Baothanhhoa.vn) - On the morning of May 27, the Thanh Hoa Union of Science and Technology Associations (hereinafter referred to as the Union), chaired and coordinated with the Thanh Hoa Department of Science and Technology, Thanh Hoa Institute of Agriculture to organize a scientific workshop on "Solutions to solve the shortage of production labor in rural areas, skilled and technical labor directly involved in agricultural production, especially high-tech agriculture and organic agriculture".

Thanh Hoa is a province with a particularly important strategic position, playing a role in connecting the Red River Delta, the Northwest with the North Central region. It is a province with a large population and abundant labor resources, ranking 3rd in the country (after Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City) with 3.76 million people. The working-age population is over 2.2 million people, of which rural labor accounts for about 78.5% (equivalent to 46.1% of the province's population). Laborers working in the agriculture - forestry - fishery sector are 632,400 people, accounting for 30.3% of the province's total labor force.

According to Notice No. 488-TB/VPTU dated November 12, 2024 on the conclusion of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee at the Conference on contact, meeting, consultation and dialogue between provincial leaders and intellectuals in the province in 2024, the Union and relevant departments, branches and sectors are assigned to advise, propose and give advice to the province to solve problems in agricultural development and new rural construction.

In particular, the solution to solve the shortage of production labor in rural areas, skilled and technical labor directly participating in agricultural production, especially high-tech agriculture and organic agriculture, is identified as an urgent task in the current period.

In order to implement the above tasks, the Workshop was organized to propose solutions to solve the shortage of production labor in rural areas, skilled labor, highly skilled labor directly participating in agricultural production, especially high-tech agriculture, organic agriculture. At the same time, meeting the requirements of agricultural development in the new period in the spirit of Resolution 58-NQ/TW of the Ministry of the Government, specifically "Focusing on prioritizing the development of the agricultural sector towards improving productivity, quality, efficiency, competitiveness and sustainable development associated with new rural construction; applying high-tech and smart agriculture to form specialized areas for large-scale, high-quality agricultural commodity production; forming and developing value chains from production, processing to consumption".

The workshop received 15 presentations from delegates from universities and colleges in the province, Thanh Hoa Agricultural Institute, and Provincial Farmers' Association.

The presentations focused on clarifying a number of contents such as: Agricultural labor shift, trends and social issues in rural areas that need to be resolved; current situation and solutions to address the shortage of highly skilled labor in high-tech agricultural development in Thanh Hoa province; solutions to the shortage of high-quality agricultural human resources; current situation and proposed solutions to solve employment for a number of high-tech agricultural production areas, organic agriculture in Thanh Hoa...

Delegates also discussed a number of contents such as the potential and advantages of Thanh Hoa's agricultural sector at present, the development structure of the agricultural sector in the new period; the structure of agricultural labor to meet the requirements of developing high-tech agriculture and organic agriculture...
