Viettel Group and KT Group (Korea) strategic cooperation to promote artificial intelligence and digital transformation in Vietnam

(Baothanhhoa.vn) - On May 26, the Military Industry-Telecoms Group (Viettel) and KT Group (South Korea) signed a Strategic Partnership Agreement (SPA). This partnership focuses on promoting comprehensive digital transformation based on Artificial Intelligence (AI Transformation - AX), enhancing Vietnam's technological competitiveness in the region.

On the basis of maximizing the strengths and experience of each party, Viettel, with its advantages in large-scale digital-telecommunications infrastructure and deep understanding of the domestic market, will play a pivotal role in the deployment in the Vietnamese market. KT contributes its research and development capacity of technology platforms that have been proven in Korea, especially in the field of artificial intelligence and AI transformation. Through this cooperation, both parties will promote the development of AI solutions suitable for Vietnam's conditions, while expanding deployment to the international market.

The two corporations will closely coordinate in developing and deploying digital technology platforms, AI ecosystems and data infrastructure to serve the AI ​​Transformation (AX) process (a comprehensive transformation of business operations based on artificial intelligence, not only changing tools, but also restructuring the way of operating, making decisions and creating value in the digital environment) in Vietnam.

Clearly identifying its pioneering role in the AI ​​transformation process in Vietnam, Viettel will research and apply AX to widely serve people and households. In addition, Viettel aims to provide specialized AX solutions for businesses and governments , in order to modernize the national digital infrastructure and improve operational efficiency.

The two parties will jointly build a dedicated AI data center and GPU server cluster. To enhance AX’s capabilities, the two corporations will develop high-quality IT and AX human resources through the Global Development Center located in Hanoi, and agree to expand training programs, contributing to the development of the future generation of AI experts for Vietnam.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Chairman and General Director of Viettel Group Tao Duc Thang emphasized: “After a period of hard work, today's agreement marks the beginning of a strategic cooperation relationship between Viettel and KT. With KT's pioneering technology and Viettel's market understanding, we believe we will bring modern, suitable solutions to Vietnam and the international markets that Viettel is investing in.”

For his part, Mr. Kim Young Shub - Chairman of KT Group shared: “Viettel is an ideal partner to realize the goal of comprehensive AI transformation. Combining the resources of both sides, we hope to contribute to making Vietnam and Korea the world's leading countries in the process of AI transformation and application”.

Through this strategic cooperation, Viettel and KT expect to co-create an advanced digital technology ecosystem that is globally scalable, while contributing to enhancing endogenous technology capacity, developing high-quality human resources, and promoting the technological position of Vietnam and Korea on the world digital map.
