Scientific workshop “Silver economy in Vietnam in the new era”

On the morning of November 15, in Hanoi, the Central Policy and Strategy Committee; Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics; Central Theoretical Council; Communist Magazine and the Central Association of the Elderly (NCT) of Vietnam jointly organized the scientific conference "Silver economy in Vietnam in the new era". The conference was connected online with 33 connecting points in provinces and centrally-run cities.

Attending the workshop were comrades: Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang - Member of the Politburo , Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council; Le Minh Hoan - Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly; Dr. Nguyen Thanh Nghi - Member of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Policy and Strategy Committee; Dr. Hoang Trung Dung - Member of the Party Central Committee, Editor-in-Chief of the Communist Magazine; Prof. Dr. Ta Ngoc Tan - Permanent Vice Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council; Nguyen Thanh Binh - Chairman of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly; and leaders of ministries, departments, and central branches; representatives of a number of international organizations; representatives of local leaders, experts, and scientists.

At Khanh Hoa bridge, attending the workshop were comrade Nguyen Thanh Ha - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and leaders of departments, branches, the Provincial Elderly Association and typical elderly people.

At the workshop, more than 80 presentations by leaders of ministries, branches, experts, scientists and representatives of international organizations were presented, focusing on 3 groups of issues including: Clarifying the theoretical basis of the "Silver Economy Forum" and "Silver Economy in Vietnam"; general assessment of the current state of silver economy in Vietnam, especially the role of the elderly in socio-economic development over the past 40 years, drawing experiences from countries with successful models; analyzing opportunities, challenges, orientations for silver economy development and proposing solutions and policy breakthroughs to develop an ecosystem of products and services for the elderly in the new era.

"Silver economy" is an economy that focuses on activities, products and services designed to meet the needs of the elderly. The workshop aims to provide scientific and practical arguments for the development of policies on silver economy, creating a change in awareness in the political system and business community. The results of the workshop will contribute to the orientation of developing documents and policies for the period 2025 - 2035, with a vision to 2045, promoting innovation and developing markets for the elderly.
