On the morning of April 26, at Hanoi Pedagogical University 2, a national scientific conference took place with the theme "The Great Victory of Spring 1975 - Historical values and lessons learned in building and defending the Fatherland today".
The workshop was organized by Hanoi Pedagogical University 2 in collaboration with the Institute of History, Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences and the Armored Officer School. This is an important activity with practical significance to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification (April 30, 1975/April 30, 2025).
Attending the workshop were Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Duc Cuong, President of the Vietnam Historical Science Association; Dr. Le Quang Chan, Deputy Director of the Institute of History, Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences; Major General, Dr. Nguyen Hong Thai, former Director of the Institute of History of the People's Public Security, former Editor-in-Chief of the People's Public Security Magazine, member of the Central Theoretical Council; Colonel Ngo Anh Thu, Deputy Editor-in-Chief. Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Dr. Bui Kien Cuong, Vice Principal of Hanoi National University of Education 2, emphasized that the Great Victory of Spring 1975 was a shining manifestation of the will for independence, self-reliance, the strength of great national unity, the Party's skillful leadership and the Vietnamese military art. The workshop aimed to clarify the historical value and great significance of the Great Victory of Spring 1975, at the same time, analyze the lessons learned, and propose practical solutions to effectively apply to the current cause of national construction and defense.
Nearly 130 presentations by researchers, lecturers, and history teachers from all over the country continued to affirm and clarify the correct and wise leadership of the Party and the people. President Ho Chi Minh was the decisive factor in the victory of the General Offensive and Uprising in the Spring of 1975. The great victory in the Spring of 1975 had great historical value and significance, it was the inheritance and promotion of our ancestors' tradition of fighting the enemy; it was evidence of the spirit of solidarity, the aspiration for peace and national unification of the army and people of the two regions, the North and the South.
Speaking at the workshop, Colonel Ngo Anh Thu, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the People's Army Newspaper, emphasized: "The tradition of patriotism, indomitable will, and self-reliance of the nation, built in the history of building and defending the country, is the foundation of the political and spiritual factor of the Vietnam People's Army. This is the absolute advantage, the source of strength that decided the victory of our nation's resistance war against the US to save the country."
At the workshop, the delegates focused on discussing and studying the historical value and significance of the resistance war against the US to save the country in the development process of Vietnamese history. At the same time, they discussed the value of the Great Victory of Spring 1975 for the cause of innovation and international integration, thereby drawing lessons in building and defending the Fatherland and educating the young generation in the new era, the era of the Vietnamese nation's rise.
Concluding the discussion session, the workshop's organizing committee acknowledged the opinions, comments and in-depth discussions; proposed practical solutions to improve the quality of education contributing to revolutionary traditions, fostering patriotism, and arousing national pride for cadres, soldiers and people, especially the young generation in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.
