DTO - On the morning of August 9, in Cao Lanh City, the People's Committee of Dong Thap Province and Lao Dong Newspaper jointly organized the Workshop "Promoting human resources to work abroad under contracts" and the 95th Anniversary of the first publication of Lao Dong Newspaper.

Attending the event were comrades: Phan Van Thang - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Pham Thien Nghia - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Phan Thu Thuy - Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Lao Dong Newspaper; and representatives of the Vietnam Association of Manpower Supply, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in Vietnam and provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta region.

Comrade Pham Thien Nghia - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee delivered the opening speech at the workshop.

Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Mr. Pham Thien Nghia - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized that in recent years, Dong Thap province has paid special attention to sending laborers to work abroad for a limited period under contracts; issued many specific mechanisms and policies to support laborers. At the same time, it has promoted propaganda and mobilized laborers to actively participate in working abroad with the motto "working for hire - coming back to be the boss". However, the province has not yet effectively utilized and promoted the human resources of laborers who have returned home after their contracts have expired. Through the workshop, Dong Thap province hopes to receive sharing, experiences, good practices from localities and contributions from experts in the field of labor export. At the same time, discuss and find solutions and policies to support improving the quality of laborers returning home after their contracts have expired and promote the effectiveness of this human resource...

Mr. Nguyen Gia Liem - senior expert of Vietnam Association of Labor Export proposed solutions to improve the quality of labor resources returning home after their contracts expired.

At the workshop, delegates listened to workers who had participated in temporary work abroad under contracts share their experiences and knowledge accumulated while working abroad and apply them to start a business in their hometown. Representatives of leaders from Vinh Long, Dong Thap and Ca Mau provinces presented papers on coordination to improve the quality and skills of workers before going abroad to work under contracts; the current situation and solutions to effectively promote workers whose contracts have expired after returning home; and policies to support workers who participate in working abroad and after returning to their localities.

Attending the workshop, senior experts from the Vietnam Association of Manpower Supply and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in Vietnam analyzed and clarified the needs of the domestic and foreign labor markets; advantages and disadvantages in sending Vietnamese workers to work abroad for a limited period of time. At the same time, they proposed a number of solutions for localities to improve the quality of labor resources working abroad...

Speaking at the conclusion of the workshop, Mr. Phan Van Thang - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council thanked the sentiments and valuable sharing of the delegates and experts on the work of sending workers to work abroad for a limited period of time in Dong Thap province in particular and the Mekong Delta region in general. The information received from the workshop is valuable experience for Dong Thap province to concretize into tasks and solutions to continue leading and directing the implementation of the work of sending workers to work abroad for a limited period of time under contracts, making an important contribution to the work of job creation and sustainable poverty reduction. At the same time, attention should be paid to building a group of workers returning home after the expiration of their contracts to become high-quality human resources serving the task of promoting the socio -economic development of the Land of Pink Lotus.

On this occasion, Lao Dong Newspaper celebrated the 95th anniversary of the first issue. At the same time, it shared the process of coordinating with Dong Thap province and other provinces in the Mekong Delta region in providing information and propaganda on sending workers to work abroad and the fields of socio-economic development. Thereby, many collectives and individuals of Lao Dong Newspaper were honored to receive Certificates of Merit from the Chairman of the People's Committee and the Executive Board of the Labor Federation of provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta region.
