Pursuant to Decision No. 2831/QD-BNN-KTHT dated August 14, 2024 of the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development on approving the Plan to organize the Vietnam Handicraft Product Competition in 2024 in conjunction with the Exhibition "Colors of cultural heritage, nature and traditional Vietnamese handicraft products" .
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development coordinates with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to organize the Vietnam Handicraft Product Contest 2024.
The exhibition “Colors of cultural and natural heritage and traditional handicrafts of Vietnam” is a cultural activity to celebrate Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day (November 23) to introduce, promote and honor cultural and natural heritages, historical relics, scenic spots and unique tourism products of the country and people of Vietnam, affirming the potential for cultural and tourism development among localities in the country, creating a strong driving force to attract resources for tourism development, enhancing the image of the country and people of Vietnam.
The contest will be one of the conditions for proposing recognition of artisans at all levels. |
The exhibition introduces traditional handicraft products of industrial and handicraft villages in different regions; encourages and motivates the creative spirit of artisans. This is also an opportunity for artisans to exchange and promote the potential of craft village tourism, expand the relationship between traditional craft villages, and gradually integrate into the international economy. The activities at the exhibition will contribute to enhancing exchanges between localities in organizing cultural and artistic activities and promoting tourism.
In addition, the Exhibition aims to raise awareness and responsibility of the community, especially the young generation, in preserving and promoting the value of tangible and intangible cultural heritage and natural heritage; arouse love for the homeland and country, national pride in the long-standing culture, rich in identity that has been crystallized and continued through many generations; strive to build an increasingly rich and beautiful Vietnam.
The contest aims to honor, inspire and encourage authors to develop creative ideas to create new handicraft products that are both technical, aesthetic, highly applicable and meet the criteria for sustainable development in the period of international integration; at the same time, create an environment for exchanging experiences and knowledge about the production and trading of handicraft products. The contest aims to contribute to preserving and promoting the national cultural identity of traditional occupations, craft villages, and traditional craft villages; connect businesses that purchase and consume handicraft products with craft villages and traditional craft villages to promote consumption, increase product value and improve workers' income; propagate, introduce and promote traditional craft villages and craft streets across the country, contributing to the preservation and development of craft villages.
The winners of the Contest will be one of the conditions for proposing recognition of artisans at all levels.
Contestants: All organizations and individuals regardless of profession, age, gender; have full civil capacity; have the ability to create and produce handicraft products in accordance with the regulations (except members of the Organizing Committee and the Jury) .
Contest products: Handicraft products in 5 groups that meet the criteria according to the issued Contest Regulations, including:
- Ceramic and glass group;
- Weaving, embroidery, knitting, crocheting group;
- Natural rattan, bamboo and leaf group;
- Stone, wood art, lacquer, mother-of-pearl inlay group;
- Other groups (horns, metals, flowers, paintings, etc.).
Time and location of the contest:
- Time and place for receiving products: The Organizing Committee will receive contest products from October 28, 2024 to November 1, 2024 (Receiving products during office hours) at the Vietnam Exhibition Center for Culture and Arts - Address No. 2 Hoa Lu, Le Dai Hanh Ward, Hai Ba Trung District, Hanoi City.
- Exam marking period: Starting from November 4, 2024.
