Recalling the early days, Ms. Phuong shared: "Before, my family had a lot of difficulties. The Farmers' Association lent me capital to do business. At first, I raised pigs and fish, then planted forests, a little bit of each to earn income. After the swine flu epidemic, I went back to raising goats and chickens, and now raising livestock brings economic results..." The sincerity in her story makes listeners understand her faltering but determined steps.
In 2010, a big turning point came when she boldly borrowed over 100 million VND from the District Social Policy Bank through the trust of the Commune Farmers' Association. Ms. Phuong invested in raising pigs, chickens, etc. Thanks to actively participating in training courses on transferring science and technology in livestock and farming, Ms. Phuong's family gradually expanded its scale. In particular, the hill-based chicken farming model is what she focuses on, raising 3 to 4 batches of crossbred chickens each year. In order for the chickens to grow healthily, she not only focuses on caring for and preventing diseases, but also grows elephant grass and bananas for food, ensuring a year-round supply. Up to now, her family maintains over 3,000 meat chickens.
Not stopping there, Ms. Phuong also raises 30 goats with a selling price of 140,000 VND/kg, raises more than 3,000 m2 of fish ponds, grows 1 hectare of Bat Tien tea and 8 hectares of cinnamon trees that are 5 to 10 years old. With diligence and a spirit of continuous learning, she seeks out experiences from other livestock models, applies them in practice, helps poultry and goats grow and develop well, bringing in a stable source of income.
Ms. Dinh Thi Hai - Head of the Farmers' Association of Lang Gat Village shared: "Ms. Phuong's family is also very bold in changing the structure of crops, livestock, gardens, ponds and barns. In the past, she also had many difficulties, but with the attention of the local government and the Farmers' Association at all levels, they opened training classes on livestock farming. Up to now, her family's model is a typical example in the village, many people come to learn and develop". Ms. Hai's comments further affirm the position and role of Ms. Phuong's comprehensive economic model in the village.
Every year, after deducting expenses, Ms. Phuong's family's livestock farming model brings in an income of 250 million to 400 million VND. This is not only a desirable source of income but also a testament to her perseverance and vision.
Not only focusing on developing the family economy, Ms. Phuong also actively participates in local movements, exemplary in implementing the Party's guidelines, policies and laws of the State. She is willing to share her experiences and techniques in farming and animal husbandry with the people, contributing to raising awareness and innovating methods in agricultural production. In the process of farming and animal husbandry, her family always applies new science and technology, disinfects barns to prevent epidemics; does not use chemical fertilizers or pesticides to increase productivity, quality and ensure food safety, protect the rural environment.
Sharing her wishes for the future, Ms. Phuong said: "In the coming time, I hope to receive attention from the State, support more capital and find outlets to consume products, bringing high income to the family." This is also a common concern of many farming households, and the State's attention will be an important lever for models like Ms. Phuong's to continue to develop sustainably.
Ms. Ngo Thi Thuy Van - President of Bao Dap Commune Farmers' Association believes: "With the model of garden pond forest barn, we also really hope that this model will spread to other models, and at the same time, there will be a support policy for Ms. Phuong's model. Visiting the model, we have an orientation such as borrowing capital from the provincial and district farmer support funds. In the future, we also really hope that in addition to developing a connection model to find output for products such as raising chickens and goats of Ms. Phuong's family".
With determination not to be afraid of difficulties, Ms. Vu Thi Phuong's comprehensive economic model is increasingly developing, not only bringing a prosperous life to her family but also motivating many members and farmers in the commune to learn and follow, contributing to poverty reduction and promoting local socio-economic development.
